When every new artist makes their mark on the hip-hop game, there is usually an intro song that truly lets the people know that they’ve arrived and are ready to rip. For the Oakland emcee known as Balance, his new song I’m Here Now might just be that song. Produced by TrackLordz, the beat is not necessarily a heavy trunk banger, and yet isn’t really laid back either. Instead, with heavy bass hits and a smooth instrumental, I’m Here Now is that rare track that works equally well in your home speakers and your car system. Vocally, Manny lends a hand on the hook, delivering a catchy chorus announcing that Balance has arrived and is demanding his crown on his quest to be king. On the mic, Balance, North Carolina emcee Rain and Greenspan (who may remind you of Short Dawg) bring some dope lyrics and metaphors that might stick with you even after the track is over. So Booth fans feeling Balance’s different style of west coast flow should keep an ear out for both an upcoming DJBooth Freestyle and his album The Exit, due out in October.

Almost everything works here. The rap contributions fit well within the confines of the TrackLordz production, and although I wasn't impressed with it, Manny's hook works (although a stronger hook vocal could have really taken this record to another level).

Side note: Balance owes the Booth a freestyle. Hit him on Twitter and tell him whats up!

As a Bay representative I couldn't pass up the opportunity to listen to and review this feature from Balance. Similar to The Jacka, Locksmith, San Quinn, 40, even recent Booth-featured Doey Rock amongst others, Balance delivered a solid, gritty (although fairly mild in this verse), demonstration of the more lyrical emcees in the Yay. The attention deserved by the ones mentioned has been overshadowed by mainstream trends that constantly bubble in Northern California. All of that aside here, the boardwork of the TrackLordz served as the perfect canvas for these artists to illustrate who's "Here Now." I will say the verses could have been somewhat more convincing, along with the hook. I'll dish a rating that might irritate math teachers, 3.5 rounded down.

I've been bumping Balance for a minute, but this is the first time I've started to really think he could not only drop some ill tracks, but make his mark on radio too. KMEL better bump this. (My Bay folks know what I'm talking about.)

Not bad at all, the beat didn't really do great things for me. It was just ok. Balance verse was not bad either. Didn't have as much feeling as I would have liked.
