As a child, when my mother used to ask me what I was doing in my bedroom with the door closed, I would reply “Just chillin.” She would then jokingly say, “Chillin? Are you sitting in the freezer in your underwear?” Obviously my mother has a unique sense of humor, but by the sound of Baby D’s new single, So Icey, my moms’ might have company. Featuring fellow Southern rappers Shawty Lo and Gucci Mane, the song describes the MC’s as being soooo ridiculously icey that you need to put them in the freezer. While Shawty gets stuck at the end and Gucci’s feature is essentially a redux of a verse from his own song of the same title, main artist Baby D shines (which is the idea, right?). The Oomp Camp affiliate will release his debut, A-Town Secret Weapon, later this month.

This Beat is a Banger! If lil wayne was on here it would be so SICK; but he's not and these average dudes are on here and I really can't stand it for a long period of time. It's OK for effort.

Beat is ok. Gucci mane sounds like Gorilla Zoe. I think the hook is kind of weak and unoriginal: put me in the freezer cause I am so icey. Sounds like something my little brother would say to me. I might have to start listening to his inane jargons. It might actually pay-off in the long run.

I was disappointed by this one. The hook was cool at first, but got on my nerves by the end of the song. I agree w/ Tone + Chef and Blaze on this, different artists could've killed this beat.
I did like how they used the "I'm so Iceyyyy" from Gucci's song in the backround of the hook. |
