I was about to call B.o.B. the world’s most popular rapper turned rocker/pop sensation, and then I remembered Lil Wayne’s musical transformation (see also: How to Love). Considering both Bobby and Weezy have joined forces for a new single, is it unreasonable then to think that Strange Clouds will be the biggest hit in music history? Ok, yeah, that is a little unreasonable, but you get the point. This one’s aimed at the charts, especially with proven hitmaker Dr. Luke cooking up an atmpospheric beat that’s as dark as it is catchy, a formula that’s worked for B.o.B. before (Airplanes). Vocally the esteemed Nothin on You creator walks both sides of the line nicely, one minute flipping off-kilter rhymes (first Top Chef reference in rap history?) and the next delivering party-ready vocals on the hook. For his part Weezy is, well, Weezy, alternately promising women some serious acrobatics in bed and proclaiming his gang ties. While we’ve yet to get either a title
(the album will also be entitled Strange Clouds) or release date for B.o.B.’s highly-anticipated sophomore album, Strange Clouds soaring up the charts will ensure both happen sooner rather than later. So how about it Booth Nation, does this one have #1 written all over it?

Could have done without Weezy, didn't need him here. B.o.B. is big enough (and talented enough) to do things without a feature act. I am a fan, though.

This looks like it will be massive. Its actually a really good song too...the beat is a monster. B.o.B rips it and I thought Wayne put a decent verse on this. 4 stars!

This is cool. Even though Wayne didn't add anything to the song, I do have to say that his verse was better than anything on Carter 4

Imagine if Em did a verse instead of Weezy. B.o.B killed that beat. I can't stop singing that hook, could be the best hook of the year along with I'm On One's. This and Epic are strong opening tracks for his 2nd album, which I cannot wait for.

This is a song that gets better each time you hear it, I thought Weezy was a nice additive although of course if he wasn't here you still would like it.

in rotation for me too. i definitely agree with dj z and them. we all know that b.o.b. is capable enough to make this song without weezy. if he had done this by himself i still proably would have gave him 3starz.

Giant B.o.B fan, but Weezy doesnt do it for me. Still, Production and B.o.Bs verse are on point. Weezy brings his (insert sexual prowess), (insert gang reference) as usual. 4/5 would be 5 without Weezy

Beat is bananas. Weezy wasn't technically needed, but works on marketing terms. B.o.B's schizophrenic flows are sick as always, and his chorus is super-catchy. Debuted at 7, but has Top 5, maybe Top 3 potential.

I can sense some british flavor in it. dub+hiphop seems to be working out pretty well all around (Ex. Tinie). was never a weezy fan and still isn't but he does just fine here for me and b.o.b is as crisp as always.

The Weezy inclusion will delight his rap fans but its the dubstep that might shoot this further up the charts...
... as for what I think: 3 Stars out of 5 |
