B.G. - My Hood
Artist: B.G.
Producer: Mannie Fresh
Album: Too Hood 2 Be Hollywood
Label: Chopper City/E1/Atlantic
Earlier this week, we brought Booth readers Back to the Money, the lead single off B.G.‘s 11th studio album, Too Hood 2 Be Hollywood... or was it? Uh, as it turns out, it wasn’t – now it seems that Baby Gangster is rolling with this track, My Hood as the official selection. Here, the rapper reunites with a familiar face from his Cash Money days; Mannie Fresh delivers a bombastic synth-brass beat befitting hood royalty, and the New Orleans emcee matches his past collaborator’s infectiously cheery fanfare with three exultant verses, putting a philanthropic spin on the previous selection’s “big money/back like I never left” theme. This magnanimous street anthem’s light, feel-good vibe is appealing, but the question remains: was the single switch for the best? Judging by the polarized Booth reader and staff reviews BttM received, we can expect a healthy debate. Whichever track you prefer, though, you’re sure to find more to your liking on B.G.‘s 11th studio album when it hits stores and online retailers November, 24.

MUCH better than "Back to the Money." Something about that Mannie Fresh production that brings out the most in B.G. This record has the feel of that "inspiration jam." Rotating...

This is a nice track for BG. It definitely has to be stronger than this for him to succeed on the album though. Mannie Fresh did his thing on the beat...Definitely a Rotation track.

Look who is producing this, it explains that why I thought this beat is real good. Anyone could have shined on this one. What about B.G. you ask? The man rides beat like a fat girl riding a fat dude... ain’t nothing happening! .... Boring! plus throw in redundant lyrics with typical lazy southern drawl and what you get is another instrumental done wasted that could've been done better by another artist with the same .. uhmm ... topic.

BG on the verses + Mannie Fresh on the beat = BANGER.
Throw some philanthropy towards the streets in the mix, and the extra star makes it a CLASSIC. I think I speak for the rest of the Booth when I say I'm glad Geezy picked this over "Back to the Money." I'm pulling for a remix with Juvy, Weezy, and hopefully Teke (Turk for ya outsiders). |

This is a leading single i'm talking about. No apologies for being gone but thankful for what he has. I can hear folk making this their anthem.

This is another street anthem from B.G. and he comes through with great production from Mannie Fresh. I hear his album been pushed back to December 8th now. This is the second single to the album, the first being Back To The Money. They already shot videos for both singles. So they promoting both songs.

this cut was unexpected, mainly becuase of the genuis that is mannie fresh, but thats not enough for me to buy this cut. juvi(a better rapper than bg) would have been much better on this cut.
