Ayomari - Just a Dreamer
Artist: Ayomari
Producer: 5kinandbone5
Album: The Peanut Butter &Jelly Solution Mixtape
Label: The Cafeteria Line
Roughly 99.9% of rappers featured in the Booth can be placed in one of two categories based on the photos displayed on their artist pages: (a) trying to look cool or (b) trying to look intimidating. Well, thanks to Booth newcomer Ayomari, we’re going to have to add another category: “Startled by something outside the frame while preparing to bite into an invisible submarine sandwich.” On second thought, lets just go with “Other.” Hilarious photo aside, the L.A. native showcases some dead-serious mic skills on Just a Dreamer, a standout track off his latest mixtape. Here, the laid-back, soul-sampled production of 5kinandBone5 (complete with the obligatory Biggie sample) sets an appropriately relaxing mood as the artist contrasts his fantasies of superstardom with the far-from-perfect reality of his daily grind. Topped off with guest bars by fellow Cali emcees TiRon (who recently brought us For Your Smile) and Tunji (previously heard on Keelay and Zaire‘s Addicts for Real), this appetizing track should only leave listeners hungry for more. If your stomach’s still rumbling, grab a copy of Ayomari’s Peanut Butter and Jelly Sollution mixtape, released on the 14th and out now online.

that picture is priceless...simply put...the smokers are going to love this one...seems a little sloppy...he doesn't rhyme that much...sounds like he just freestyle the whole thing...every body can't do that..badly engineered mix and mastered...tiRon did better than him on his track (that sucks)...follow my dreams and chase my nightmares...man can i relate...i will cut out the hook and ayomari first verse out, his second verse aint that bad...but this is ok could have been better though...not a total failure i see where he was going

Perfect example of why you should never judge a book by it's cover. This is a GOOD record. Don't Sleep!

The dreamy production grabs you immediately. They didn't need the Biggie sample, which (for me) has gotten old, but the vibe is very dope. Solid underground hip-hop.

sounds a little bit like kanye at the start- but not as charismatic which is a minus. the biggie sample is overused- sometimes it works but the majority of the time it doesnt which is the case here. a little slow for my liking. in rotation.

I'm undecided on the Biggie sample, it's overused but it works well here, but more importantly, I'm feeling this. It's not gonna blow you away, but if you give it a minute to sink in it's mellow as f**k. Some real chill-out music. I'm down to hear more ayomari, so on that tip, mission accomplished.

I like the production with its methodical chill pace and soul vibe, is a definite highlight. But they fail to leave a memorable impact over it. Still, a nice listen!

All I'mma say is...this sounds like something that would fit perfectly on Mike Dreams' "Dreamer's Poetry" (same theme)...Given what the Booth thinks, you can probably guess what that is.

Love the production here. I agree with Z - the Biggie sample really isn't needed here. In rotation.

just because the production is laid back doesn't mean the artist has to have a lazy flow. And Biggie did not have to be on this, he is best sampled in as few tracks as possible to retain and keep his legendary status. Leave the man be.
