AWAR - Iron Butterfly
Artist: AWAR
Producer: M-Phazes
Album: Things Of That Nature EP
Label: Unsigned
Spring is a time for competition and excitement, a time for the NBA and NHL playoffs to take off and new artists to take their shots at breaking through. The perfect example may just come from AWAR and his new leak Iron Butterfly, making its premiere in the Booth right now. While the song itself is not about sports, it does represent what it takes to be a champion - having the determination and strength to outlast your obstacles and opponents. Produced by M-Phazes, the MPD was in full affect as we get an underground bass and snare combo that is simple but powerful enough to help AWAR deliver his message. With an inspiring hook that will wake up even the laziest of people, AWAR spits about how life is not going to set up the win for you, and if you want it then you are going to have to get it done yourself. Though the record is an easy head bobber, it is also one that should inspire you to get up get out and do something…like pick up his upcoming project Things Of That Nature EP when it drops via DJBooth on the 28th.
Notes: Premiere. First Booth feature. We are hosting his new project for download, dropping next week (4/28).

Hmm...I see so much potential here. He clearly knows a lot of words, but most of his lines and his flow as a whole sounds extremely forced. I like the production though, so it's not all bad. I think it's a 2, but I'll add a star because this guy could be great if he reels himself in a little.

Nice introduction to AWAR. He has that gritty 90s sound in his approach that I like.

Yeah, still sounds a bit amateur, but not horrible...2.5

Definitely a unique sound, and will look forward to more. M-phazes kills nearly everything he touches. 'Things of that Nature' coming out on the 28th, will be great. Awar's Soul Caliber track is classic and video is great; props to 'The Production' for putting that together.

I'm torn between did he want this to sound cutting edge like he just did 1 take a la the mentions of the 90s sound or could the engineering be better? Either way he's talented but I agree with everyone he has potential and I'm sure w/ more releases his flow will even out.

Awar has been around for a long while, just relatively quiet for a few years. Remember some tracks back in the day with Icon the Mic King and thinking he had a lot of skill back then. To me this song is the fruition of that talent.
This song knocks. |

AWAR presents a good introduction to the booth right here. This isn't a standout track, but I forsee some definite big potential for him.
