Avery Storm - Leader of the Band

Fans of the distinctly voiced Avery Storm have been waiting for his new upcoming album Shotgun Love, but although we heard the album’s lead single Not Like My Girl in April, and it’s second offering Supermodel in July, Shotgun appears no closer to a solid release date. What’s the hold-up? Perhaps Avery’s waiting for a record to truly take off. If so, my money’s on new prospective single Leader of the Band becoming that record. On the production side beatsmith Nefu crafts an instantly engaging, clapping beat with just a hint of edge, which Avery overlays with lyrics letting a special lady know just who’s calling the shots (at least in bed). Lyrically we’ve heard music-as-sex metaphors like these before, but it’s Avery’s inventive, smooth yet gritty vocal performance that truly takes things to the next level; is that a Ginuwine So Anxious reference I hear? Personally my answer is emphatic yes, but I’m but one man. So what do you think Booth nation? Should Leader of the Band be Shotgun Love’s next official single?

I agree with Nathan (read above) that this is one of the best records we've featured from Avery to date. His vocals are tinged with a few vocal effects, but it adds to intrigue of the production. Hopefully this catches some ears over at the Motown office.

The man is still around? I forgot about him for second but I'm listening now. Love the unique vocals of Avery. Sorry to kill the 4's but this one hasn't quite got me totally hooked yet... Might be back to bump up my vote though

Ever since I listened to Category 5 I've been waiting for the world (and Motown) to catch on and realize how talented Avery is. Looks like it's starting to work, at least on the Booth. I love his work when he's a little more emotional and raw, but for a single, I don't know what more you could ask for.

avery is a hell of an ARTIST. i don't think the music he's making is the problem. i don't think he's getting the attention he truly deserves. universal/derrty needs to wake up
