As evidenced by the positive reader response to the New Boyz’ You’re a Jerk and KeKe Palmer‘s Super Jerkin’, the Booth community are nearly unanimous in their support of the jerkin’ movement—only problem is, some of us (myself included) don’t actually know how to jerk. Well, have no fear; Price Tag and Oktane of Audio Push, a Cali duo newly signed to Geffen Records, have taken it upon themselves to enlighten the masses. Though their new single (and Booth debut) Teach Me How To Jerk is a little heavy on the lingo for a complete neophyte, those who first refer to the twosome’s helpful instructional video will find a lot to enjoy here: Kadis & Sean‘s stark, synth-driven beat brims with hypnotically catchy energy, and AP’s verses come packed with so much deadpan innuendo I wasn’t sure whether to laugh or, well, jerk (I tried, and failed pretty badly). Craving more jerk-able jams? Stay tuned for further info on the duo’s debut LP, which has yet to receive a title or release date.

i dont think i have the ability to jerk lol
but the songs are usually nice. the beats are always hot. and this is no exception, beat wise, and the verses dont stand off and i dont find them very catchy but this song goes in rotation |

Stupid song. Kinda like how once Crank Dat came out a bunch of copycats soon hit the internet. I doubt the song will have the same success as Ur a Jerk.

This beat is pretty hot, but this just isn't really my style. I agree with what HoamBoy said. "Crank That" kinda started all of this stupid dance sh*t, and it's kinda gettin old to me.

This is one of the worst erafads ever! Jerkin needs to end, and them tight ass pants. Hell na! However, this beat is sick, and so was the other jerk track. So for the production and for how popular this shit is I would play it.

the beat is crazy! i'm feelin it. the song lyrics are just alright though. It might get plays but it's not a stand out song, more of a copy cat. Beat is crazy tho!

People either like this new JERK movement or they do not. Listeners are not going to grow into liking something that by definition is supposed to be very left of center. I am not about to jerk myself, but I appreciate the angle they are taking with the music and the impact it is beginning to make on the west coast.

This guy sounds like lil wayne. I don't like the "teach me how to jerk" no.. it's an ok song though.. the "teach me how to jerk" ruins the song.

There’s just something so ineffably catchy going on here. Phil Blount must be smok'n too many blunt/backwoods. lolol. This sound is totally fresh and aint even a Jerk Beat! That's what makes this joint fire! It sounds nothing like the other jerk songs because producers Kadis & Sean have mad musical range! They killed Busta Rymes "Breath Like That" and Choppers "Lil Daddy" on Hustle & Flow soundtrack. Also, Audio Push aint copy cats, dudes been around before New Boyz just like Cold Flames. Yall just old and outta the loop of what's bump'n in the streets!
Look, you aint gotta like it, but ya'll need to step ya critic game up! On Jerk music in general, I'm a real old Hip Hop head (prior to Rakim), and this trend/movement is Hip Hop at its most authentic. Like Hyphy and Krump, It started in the streets, and was made by kidz,and for kidz to jam to, and now labels are now trying to profit. That's totally diff than other dance songs (mostly made down south) which are purely made to sell records! Time for u older dawgs to start wearing suits & ties and grow up or sump'n cuz ths is music made by young kidz in the streets & for young people! Chomp on my truth! Get some Hip Hop knowledge before just hat'n! Love all pure Hip Hip and this is as pure as it gets! Real Throwback culture! |

Since when has Hip Hop not been about new dance crazes. Soulja Boy did not create this new dance movements, if you had open ears for hip hop you would know that dancing, break-dancing (which you can do in jerkin), and club dances been out since hip hop was first commercialized.
This is not a copy cat jerkin song and New Boyz didnt make the first jerkin song. But they are contributing to the jerkin movement in cali right now. Besides the outfitting the dance is hot. This beat hits. |
