It’s a sad day when I have to admit that summer has once again run its course. However, I take solace in the fact that good music doesn’t have an off-season, a fact made evident by the fresh promo single featured today from Atmosphere, making their DJBooth debut today with To All My Friends. Unlike much of their other work, Friends isn’t a track with destructive bass or smothering dark overtones, instead giving the listener mellow guitar-laced production (from Ant, one-half of Atmosphere) that fits the song’s nostalgic theme perfectly. In addition to simply providing quality music, the smooth song also allows us to consider for a moment the twists and turns of life, and how our dreams can often switch sources in midstream. In the case of Slug (the other half of the group), that means, “The turntable stole my heart, burnt the paintbrush, broke it apart”; lucky for us. If this track warmed you up like the last burning embers of the season, be sure to lookout for Atmosphere’s To All My Friends Tour, making its move on America soon.

Have we really never featured Atmosphere at the Booth before? Shame on us (this is totally unbelievable). And why do I have a feeling that pointing this out will lead to an inbox full of hateful e-mails from Rhymesayers fans? Ahhh, doh!
Not as dynamic as some of their past works, but still overly consistent and undeniably enjoyable if you are a fan of material and sound.

really like ant's production here, sets the mood for the song. slug's spitting fits with the production really well too, nothing too hard, just smooth rapping

I remember you featured Atmosphere and Murs when rosie perez dropped, but I would definitely be happy with some more Slug. This is great and reminds me why I love atmosphere.

Co-sign. This deserves four stars. It may not have the kind of visceral, kinetic energy of a banger! but a mellow tune when done right - strikes far deeper and lasts longer. The killer part is that guitar line... it's so simple but it gives the song this melodic hook that's hard to forget, adding an introspective sitting-on-a-low-stool-with-guitar vibe to Slug's nostalgic rhymes. And when you're in that sort of mood, there's no one better to go to than Slug, showcasing his natural ability to weave tales about what he (a flawed human being) knows/relatable stories into the canvas provided by Ant. And you can always feel who he is through his lyrics. Perfectly fits into a playlist that I can just throw on, vibe out to and let that be enough. |

yet another solid track from Atmos. Ant's production is still great and Slug's flow and lyricism are still insightful and well thought out. A mellow track that has a bit of every mood.
