After grinding through another week of school, there couldn’t have been a more refreshing joint to listen to than Atmosphere’s latest leak Freefallin’. From the duo Atmosphere (whose individual names, Slug and Ant, remind me of an unlikely superhero team), Freefallin’ offers some perspective on how to step back and view life when you’re placed between a rock and a hard place. The ever talented production half of ‘Sphere, Ant, brings a somber melody laced with classic guitar chords that gives the record an immediately relatable vibe. With a head nodding tempo to work with, Slug touches on topics ranging from dysfunctional relationships to jobs that never seem to satisfy, all the while making sure listeners are aware that someone else can always be in a worse position, noting that “these problems are the good ones to have.” If you liked getting yourself mentally prepared for the next week-long grind, be sure to check out their latest project To All My Friends, Blood Makes the Blade Holy: The Atmosphere EP, which will be dropping next Tuesday, September 7.

This is both my favorite featured record of the evening and of the entire week. A perfect "end of summer" song that I am sure sounds just as enjoyable while being performed live. I'm stoked (have not used that word in a while) for the new Atmosphere EP.

Exactly the kind of relatable, everyman lyrics we've come to expect from Slug. Now this is that real, real rap. What I'm really impressed by though is Ant, who continues to expand his production style further and further from the expected. Respect.

I can feel the lyrical content in this song. I live my life thanking God for the life I have and find my own happiness in it. But also I strive to become better and evolve as a person. I feel like this song represents that. That we should not take for granted the life we have. But the rock beat was cool too.

When you rate an Atmosphere song, I feel like you gotta put it up against every other Atmosphere song and this one ain't no 4 stars yall...sorry. Word up to Ant though, but I think your boy needs to get his weight back up.
