Recent Slip-N-Slide signee and Booth newcomer Atiba channels a little Jerry Lewis on his new single, which finds him shouting, “Hey Lady!” to a woman he’s been admiring from afar.  Fortunately for listeners, the record’s both shorter than one of the comedian’s Labor Day telethons and a lot more fun to listen to. From the ridiculously bouncy bassline that drives The Flyntstones’ production to Atiba’s singsong cadence as he slips unpredictably in and out of his native accent, this record is nothing if not unique, and while some might not dig its lighthearted, slightly goofy vibe, I’m pretty sure it’ll be running through my head for the next couple of days.  Only recently signed to Slip-N-Slide, Atiba’s forthcoming debut album has yet to receive a title or release date, but that may change if other listeners find Hey Lady as infectious as I did.

I am with Richard... I was singing along with this the other day. Atiba sounds a lot like several artists (who shall remain nameless - unless you guess...), but his sound - regardless of likeness - works.

This is a catchy record which should find a home at radio.

This kat is sick with the sing/rap delivery, I mean he got really creative when you think about it. Who would ever think about putting a reggea artist on a R&B record that basically went Pop, I think #2 on Billboard Hot 100 back in the day.

Tight work on the production tip as well, unlike T.I.'s version this sample is squeaky clean by far. The last time I heard a record like this was when Sting remixed Shaggy's
"Boombastic" in 1995 with that "Let's Get It On" bassline.

I still love that joint.. "Hey Lady" prolly won't do well in the clubs but it should put a whoopin on Top 40 radio!

Good production, and good flow. This original song was a classic, so kudos for that. Good lyrical contact. How, for some reason, I probably won't ever listen to this again -just not really feelin it. But I can see this track doing well.
