Though she’s dropped a handful of promo singles (Selfish, Walk Me Out, and Ur Swagger) online, Asia Cruise still hasn’t gotten the chance to release her debut album, Who Is Asia Cruise? Now, though, it seems that the pieces may be falling into place; on top of making USA Today‘s Top 5 to watch in ‘09, her boss, MeMpHitZ, is now hosting BET’s Rap City successor, The Deal. With all that going for her, the Jacksonville native has seized the opportunity to release her latest official single. Frustrated over a relationship on the rocks, Asia asks her man to press pause and then Rewind to the point where things started going wrong, so they can fix the problems and stay together. Once again, the “King of the R&B Guest Feature,” Fabolous, hops on to provide the male perspective, and Chris & T add to the cut’s hit potential with their mid-tempo beat. Who Is Asia Cruise? is scheduled to hit stores sometime this year via HiTz Committee/Jive Records.

Fabolous dropped a couple of sub-par guest verses on this one, considering he normally sounds great on his "R&B guest features." Asia sounds OK on this, and I like the hook and melody on the verses. But her vocals were nothing above average for me...

This is hella nice...the produciton is slappin' and Asia Cruise does not overtry with her voice like other female singers and she comes smooth! Fabolous in the beginning was dope like always. This is a fresh original r&b track!!

Agree with Z 100%, Fab can always improve an R&B track tremendously. (Luda gives him a run for his money though). Like I said, Fab was great on here but I'm just not feeling Asia's vocals too much.

I like Asia a lot. Ever since her annonymous drop of "Selfish", I've been waiting on the next track from her. Her voice is really poppy, but its cute. She really has some serious lyrical content in the songs of hers I've heard. I like the production too.
I can't say its a "banger" just b/c of the vibe of the songs. Bt I will give it a 4 outta 5. |
