Asher Roth - Party Girl
Artist: Asher Roth
Featuring: Meek Mill
Producer: Oren Yoel
Album: None (Promo Single)
Label: SB/SRC/Def Jam
I’m not quite sure how Rick James felt about hip-hoppers sampling his music, (yes, I know Eddie Murphy sang it, but see Rick…oh forget it) but I’m convinced that he would’ve approved of new gem Party Girl from Philly’s own Asher Roth. While a solid date hasn’t been revealed for forthcoming sophomore album Is This Too Orange?, his official follow up to debut offering Asleep in the Bread Aisle, it’s clear that he hasn’t lost a step in trying to keep the sophomore jinx out of his circle of success. Oren Yoel handles production on the hard thumping, drum heavy track and a potent guest appearance from fellow Philadelphian Meek Mill adds the perfect amount of spice needed to give Roth the street cred that he may have been lacking in the eyes of critics. Party Girl has not been confirmed as the new lead single from Is This Too Orange?, though it will be available for digital download tomorrow via iTunes. Be sure to check out the DJBooth for any updates on Roth’s upcoming full length, courtesy of new label home Def Jam.

Excellent Eddie Murphy Sample by Oren Yoel on the production. Really tight beat. Asher Roth is starting to sound like his own lately and less like Em, which is a great thing. Good flow on here and Meek Mill aight...

The beat is amazing, but Asher sounds too lazy on it.

i feel this is a solid track. asher has always been an emcee that i feel could really bust the main stream wide open (meek mills in my opinion is just a feature emcee dont think i want to listen to 10-14 tracks with just him on it though )

Really great production. Oren used the sample perfectly. He really made the beat his own with out losing the essence of the original. Asher was solid, Mill didn't really do it for me.

Great look for Asher. This is sort of inbetween where he wants to be as an artist and where I am sure the label wants him to sit. Nice compromise by both sides.

I started listening to this thinking it would just be Asher Roth's wack flow but then I heard the really good production and was able to roll with everything.

Love it, could've done without the Meek Mill verse and more Asher, but I'll take what I can get
