It’s getting chilly neighbors, so let’s throw on our cardigans and pack up the corncob pipe for some warmer up inside with Nottz and Asher Roth, this time with the new dual single Dontcha Wanna Be (My Neighbor). Fittingly also posing a dual threat on the track, producer/emcee Nottz, fresh off his DJBooth approved Blast That, throws down an impressive beat that’s strong but still flexible enough to accommodate some incredibly different vocal styles. Asher does a fine job with his bars, as always, while electro-crooner Colin Munroe keeps up with his predictably unusual style, but it’s Nottz who truly impresses and delivers, in my opinion, the best lyrical performance. Dontcha Wanna Be may be one cool track, but thankfully it brings the fire to keep us warm this fall. If you liked this unlikely hip-hop Mr. Rogers tribute, be sure to keep a lookout for two upcoming projects, Nottz’ You Need This Music (out October 26) and his collabo with Asher, the amusingly titled Rawth EP, which currently has no release date.

Good song but I didn't think it was great. Asher and Nottz were both nice but I wasn't feeling the beat or the hook as much as I though I would.

An entire album of Asher and Nottz sounds like an enjoyable musical experience. Kudos to Roth for recognizing the skill set of Nottz, who for years has been slept on. Not any more.

King Friday was the motherf**king man.

As long as Asher is getting nostalgic I thought I'd joint in. Asher's flow was oddly monotone, but overall this is still a nice track.

Colin's style fits perfectly with the beat and this is one of Nottz' better verses I've heard in a minute.
