When The Inc. signed a distribution deal with Universal Motown in early 2006, the music world awaited new releases from the label’s flagship artists, Ja Rule and Ashanti. In early 2007 both were supposed to drop their new albums; neither has celebrated a release. With Rule tentatively set to release The Mirror in March, Ashanti plans to trail close behind and drop her newest offering, The Declaration, soon after. Since the first two choices (Switch and Hey Baby) for a buzz single didn’t pan out, Ashanti has released her latest try, The Way That I Love You. With a piano-laced beat that could make Alicia Keys shed a tear, Ashanti does away with the club production and aims for higher ground. Tune in this spring to find out if - and when - Ashanti will declare her love.
I like the production, good effort by Ashanti to say the least, especially after she fell out a while ago. At least it seems like her vocals have improved from before.
Can Ashanti regain her stature with the overwhelming emergence Rihanna and Keyshia Cole? She has stepped her game up on this record and it is clearly the best effort out of the three, but I'm still not fully convinced that the entire Murder family can take the industry by storm like they once did before.
Production is classy! Definitely deserves a listen. I mostly like the piano, like you hear it in the end. Ashanti did her thing on this, not a thing to complain about. I’ll give her props. And she looks so sexy in that picture (and short too :p)!!
Nice track, but it's still barely there. It should be a hit though. A nice video would boost the popularity of this track, they're still a lot of Ashanti fans out there.
cute...ive been waitin for her to come back. those otha two singles sucked. dis is nice tho. i miss ol school ashanti. her first cd is still da only cd i can listen to da whole way thru without skippin a song.....i hope her da best. until den, she can stick wit nelly.
Honestly, I think the Inc. click still has a fighting chance at coming back very very strong with Lloyd, Ashanti, and even Ja Rule making better than average tracks lately. This track is something different for a single from Ashanti and I think it is done pretty well. Nice song all together. In rotation!
idk she seems to have to work harder for respect becuase people seem to judge her harder, but that's hot especially when you have to make a comeback, but this may hit airwaves crazy though!
after hearing her live I am skeptical of her voice power, not sayin its not a good voice. just not seemingly ver strong!
we will see, hope it works out for her though!
ive liked every track Ashanti has put out recently, unfortunately most have not felt the same, hopefully this fantastic new single gets her back on track!
I think Ashanti's time has passed...this new material isn't up to standards...switch wasn't all that despite Nelly ft on the track and this isn't much better.Very disappointing.
