ArtOfficial - Too Nasty
Artist: ArtOfficial
Producer: ArtOfficial
Album: Fist Fights & Foot Races EP
Label: Unsigned
Prefer your music buttoned-down and neatly categorizable by genre? Then beware: the latest feature from ArtOfficial may be Too Nasty for your ears. Us musically adventurous types, on the other hand, are sure to enjoy what the Panhandle State crew bring to the table on this inaugural EP leak. Instrumentalists Danny Perez, Manny Patino, Ralf Valencia and Keith Cooper set a freewheeling mood, blending keyboard, sax, and shifting percussion into a shapeshifting backdrop for their colleagues’ rhymes. Rappers Logics and Newsense match the instrumental’s artfully unhinged feel, delivering a torrent of braggadocious lyricism sure to leave even the quickest-witted listeners feeling a little overstimulated – but hey, that’s what repeat spins are for, right? Fist Fights & Foot Races, a collection of material previously available only in Japan, will be downloadable for a price of your choosing starting sometime next week. In the meantime, why not check out the group’s reader-acclaimed, Booth-sponsored The Payback LP, available for free streaming and download from our mixtape page?

Most "unreleased" material should stay unreleased and never see the light of day. However, for every awful, incomplete record that got shelved, there is a solid effort waiting to be heard (that merely never got placed on a release). The new ArtOfficial offering, "Too Nasty," falls into the latter category.

ArtOfficial knows how to flow, and ArtOfficial knows how to produce. Keep this up and the might find themselves a small spot in the mainstream.

Decent wordplay but the rest is more than forgettable. For the most part this is flat out unimpressive.

If I've said ti once, I've said it 100 times. There's nothing like live hip-hop, and Art Official is one of the best crews doing it. Seeing them live is on my Must Do list for 2011.

This is my first time hearing from ArtOfficial, and this is a good first impression for me. They are a very nice group, and i can see myself listening to them for now on... Im liking this from them. Its a lil too fast for me tho. I prefer a lil bit of a slower pace. But this is a solid record. And i really like the production from them. I love when ppl produce there own work. I will always respect that. In rotation for me.
