The latest leak off the Connecticut repper’s forthcoming full-length, this stripped down cut is low-concept but high-impact; after a formal introduction from the legendary DJ Premier, the Get Busy Committee member proceeds to the lace the legendary DJ/producer’s “rough, rugged and raw” instrumental (prominently featuring a Humpty Hump sample—well played, sir) with an avalanche of erudite boasts and absurd juxtaposiitons: “I’m like Genghis Khan on the back of a horse, or Billy Joel with a bottle of Jack on the dash of the Porsche.” Fellow Demigod Celph-Titled guests, showing off his hella fide alliteration game on the middle before joining the headliner for a little line-trading on the back end.  Premier is one of the greatest producers of all-time, but did we need the monologue before the song starts? No, we did not.
Once we get into it, though, Apathy and Celph rip shit up over a sick ass Slick Rick sample. Yes, welcome back Rick. This is hip hop.

I love the beat and the Humpty Hump sample "Stop what you're doing because I'm about to ruin the image and the style that you're used to"
Apathy and Celph Titled absolutely @*#$! tear the track apart. It always surprises me how two MCs as talented as these two are can still be considered so underground. Anybody fiending for some of that early 90's Boom Bap would definitely be doing themselves a favour by picking up Celph Titled & Buckwild's "Nineteen Ninety Now" as well as picking up Ap's Honkey Kong when it drops. Only thing I would change would be taking out the Monologue at the beginning of the track. It's kind of pointless... |

I actually love the monologue before the track, the beat under Preem talking is kind of the calm before the storm. Once the beat comes in.....it's over, pure lyrical destruction. Love this, and have no doubt Honkey Kong will be a BEAST.
