Apathy - Shoot First
Artist: Apathy
Featuring: B-Real , Celph Titled
Producer: Mike Shinoda
Album: Wanna Snuggle? LP
Label: Dirty Version Records
The title of Apathy‘s second solo LP may not scream “hardcore,” but don’t let that fool you into thinking the Demigodz vet’s gone soft—after hearing the skull-cracking rhymes he spits on this newly-released single (the artist’s first Booth feature), the invitation “Wanna Snuggle?” starts to seem ... kinda scary. Shoot First finds Apathy teaming up with Cypress Hill frontman B-Real and frequent partner-in-rhyme Celph Titled to deliver a shotgun-blast from hip-hop’s past. Emcee/DJ/Linkin Park member Mike Shinoda serves up a sampled beat with a classic rap-rock vibe as the threesome wheel out the big guns, peppering the track with round after round of aggressively dope lyrical ammunition. It’s pure old-school, but the appeal shouldn’t be lost on the younger set—as the headliner puts it, “This ain’t rocket science, it’s machine-gun math.” Though the Connecticut rhymewrecker’s huggability is questionable, Booth readers are sure to embrace this cut’s hard-hitting retro vibe; if you like what you’re hearing, you just might want to take Apathy up on that snuggle session come October 6th.

From start to finish a BANGER.
Sidebar: No, its not white rapper night at DJBooth (although, btw Apathy, Question? and Tom Hardy we have had some real official tunage). |
