What does it mean to be Unfresh? Well, in a recent interview, first-time Booth featuree Andy Allo explains that it’s all about “...being original, not conforming, and being yourself.” So it’s kinda like being fresh… but different. Confusing? Yeah, a little – whatever you want to call her, though, the Cameroon-born, Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter/model comes with a genre-blending sound that’s as ear-pleasing as it is unconventional, as evidenced by this standout track off her debut LP. DreamLand finds Allo drawing inspiration from Wizard of Oz classic Somewhere Over the Rainbow (according to the same interview cited above), showcasing her breezy vocal stylings over a lushly sampled, harp-laced instrumental (co-produced by the artist and Mind Majors). Fellow Californian Blu brings his breathy, expressionistic touch to the second verse, and joins the headliner for a little flirtatious line-trading on the back end. Impressed by Andy Allo’s (un)fresh alternative/hip-hop/soul sound? Grab a copy of her debut set, released Sept. 22 and available now in stores and online.

My favorite song of the evening. Everyone I have played this record for over the last 24 hours has come away a fan. Needless to say, you can play this on repeat for hours. Andy, keep these coming and you have a long and fruitful career ahead of you.

vocals here get a 5 from me, when I first heard the production I thought it was produced by walt disney, not really my style, the def. dig blu on here, but i'm a fan of the disney beat, but i do believe she can do much better.

Y'all know I'm not afraid to speak my mind, but on the real, I'm loving every song today. This is the first time I've heard Andy Allo, but I'm hypnotized. She's got a Amy Winehouse meets Jill Scott style that's damn smooth. On repeat.

I like the words, the cinematic beat, beautiful melody, guest spot (duh!) and high quality soulful and vibrating vocals by Andy Allo. Perfect background music for whatever you're doing.

I heard this last week and I loved it instantly, and not just because I'm Mike "Dreams". LOL. But Andy Allo can come be my "DreamGurl" anytime!
This record was so dope and peaceful. It definitely had that Disney vibe. If people stop sleeping, they would go sample some Disney records (I mean, for like mixtape joints or whatever) because there are actually some dope compositions on Disney Soundtracks (yes…I’ve listened to the songs…I’m not ashamed…lol). But there’s definitely a lot of string instrumentation that would be dope to flip on some hip hop ish. She’s real cute and Blu served this up nicely with the chill flow. |

Her vocals and his flow are great, I'm a lil perplexed about the production...it's romantic and sweet but not my type. I must say it's original, though! in rotation

Real chill track. Blu killed it. So peaceful, I don't know why but it reminds me of Norah Jones. Good stuff.

I chose to listen to this song because I saw it was featuring Blu. But it turns out I fell in love with the whole song and I have officially become a fan of Andy's. She can TRULY SING! Her vocals are amazing on this record and, yes, my homie Blu did lay down a classic second verse. The hook is so beautiful and Mind Majors blew my mind with the production (pun seriously intended). This deserves no less than a five.

Oh wow. I have been sleeping on the talent in the world. Allo is amazing, voice as smooth as aloe, and a presentation of lyrics that aren't confined in anyway to the 'fresh' standard of the mainstream. Blu comes through and laces the track, completing an already perfect record. The song also works because Blu and Allo have a natural chemistry that makes the song feel real and focused in a truly organic way. WHOA! FIRE FIRE FIRE.
