Don’t let the title of Andrew Lewis’ latest single, Party & Bullsh*t, fool you; as you might expect from an emcee who cites “silence” as his foremost musical influence (see his MySpace bio), the California up-and-comer has a uniquely chill take on party music – and, as I think you’ll agree, there’s no B.S. to be found. Booth-acclaimed emcee and sometime producer XV stays behind the boards here, setting the mood for a laid-back social gathering with synths, piano and a little ambient chatter, but Lewis proves perfectly able to carry the track. Ever the gracious host, he keeps things light and engaging with a breezy mix of game-spitting and lyrical imagery, even taking a moment to give latecomers directions a (“Make sure you take a right at the fourth light / we on the top floor kickin’ it, pool party.”) So, readers, will this joint earn a place in your summer-fun playlist? If the answer’s “yes,” you’ll be able to hear more on What Dreams May Come, a street album guaranteed to be at least three times as much fun as the film of the same name (sorry Robin Williams fans, that sh*t was just plain depressing).

Definitely something I could hear Common spitting over before he met Kanye or The Neptunes. This confirms it! XV is equally talented and legit behind the boards as he is concise and refreshing to hear on the mic. Blending gentle, warm drone of minor-key ambient tones with vocals and drum machines to evoke a sound so minimal and retro, yet refreshingly modern and something that focuses you to enjoy the present moment. This is nearly something I would expect from Onra, Flying Lotus or Dam~Funk's 'groove renaissance' sound... pure dopeness.

There's a bounce to the track that belies its simple instrumentation, and then there is a nifty bassline which only modulates up for a couple of steps, and when that backing hey-ooh-hoo vocals hits, it feels, decidedly contagious. Far from the most complex sound I've ever heard, but intriguing if only for how darnright pleasant it is.

Andrew Lewis does a fine job, only need few sentences and the right tone to make a nice first impression. Overall, song is most notable for its ace tune, but Andrew's contribution stands up very well to repeated close listening.

While there's a possibility that it may prove not exciting enough for some folks, but it's bound to get the room grooving whether you're enjoying by yourself or playing it as the soundtrack to a fun-filled get-together. It's fun, but not too fun. No wasted, it sticks.

DJ Booth Crew Total Ratings: 2476	Rating: Nathan S.'s Top Rated Songs It takes a brave man to title his track the same thing as a breakthrough Biggie single, but the vibe's so nice he pulls it off. I don't know if I'm as in love with this beat as others - it's real nice and high quality, just not incredible - but with Lewis' flows coming on over the top the final product's definitely good times.
