Fresh off earning reader acclaim for Leave Everything Behind (Clams Casino Remix), AmilCAR returns to our pages with Salute II U, an unreleased cut leaked in honor of MLK Day. Inspired by a KKK member’s “letter of admiration” to street gangs, Salute II U finds the Windy City representer asking tough questions about black-on-black violence over a slow-rolling beat by DJ Burn One (off instrumental mixtape Ashtray). This thought-provoking joint isn’t attached to any forthcoming project, but those digging it can keep it locked for all the latest from the Midwestern buzzmaker.

This is definitely something different and worthy of a listen or two. Not too many people out there willing to touch on serious issues, so this is nice. I like AmilCAR's flow and I like the natural and full beat by DJ Burn One. Nice work! Gets you thinkin...

This song is right up there with all the inspirational songs we've heard from the likes of 2Pac, Common and other rappers who have an ear to the street. Quite possibly one of the premier songs of the decade and definitely needs to be played for the younger generation.

HOLD UP.. This guy is a problem. This lyrical melodic croon over a southern styled banger blended perfectly like a well arranged song should be. The sound bites from the different interviews made it more realistic. Almost like I could close my eyes and watch the song. On repeat. perfect timing in honor of MLK and Black History Month.
Of course the radio wont play this tho. Its TOO REAL. Props. |
