On her first album, All I Have, Amerie showcased a typical smooth R&B style, while her follow-ups, Touch and Because I Love It, had a more uptempo sound. Her upcoming senior album and Island Def Jam debut, In Love & War, however, will be drastically different in tone than all three previous sets, focusing on the more painful side of love and relationships. Amerie’s latest single finds her unable to get over an ex, wondering “Why R U the only one I think about?” Amerie’s more bluesy-than-usual vocals, along with The Buchanans’ old-school-inspired beat, add up to a record that has already drawn comparisons to Mary J. Blige circa What’s the 411? Since old-school is making such a comeback as of late, you can expect In Love & War to meet a warm reception when hit hits stores and digital retailers sometime late this summer.

This was on repeat for 10 minutes this morning. This production work is sick. Though Beyonce would have smashed this record to bits, the beautiful and M.I.A. Amerie handles it nicely. I hope there is enough room for her at Def Jam...

The production is pretty sweat & Amerie did pretty well, though I thought other female R&B artists could of done better. I wouldn't be surprised if this gets a lot of airplay.

STILL one of the sexiest R&B singers in the game, Amerie has a hit with this one. Her other attempted comebacks have come up a bit short, but I'm rooting for her here. Love the production, and as much as I hate to admit it makes up for her lack of vocal ability.

The biggest successful aspect of this track was the production. Amerie's vocals actually fit very nicely over it. I liked the melody and hook, I could rotate this.

I kinda like Amarie's voice. Its not stron@ but its pure. And she usually has @reat production. I like this. The hook is catchy. I can see this workin. It also has a old vibe to it. Circa 1996.

i give amerie her props on this i rate this so high because she's not scared to step outside the box with her music she consistantly changes it up each album and that shows her versatility as an artist which unfortunately most artist today lack...great track and great song i look forward to hearing more from her in the near future

This is gonna be one of the most rotated songs of the summer. It has the energy to get people on the dance floor, drinking @ the bb-q and turning up the radio in their cars. Hell, I can see people cleaning house on Saturdays with this banging from the stereo!

I think Amerie was a good pick for this song, she has a certain sound bout her that's real smooth plus she can hit those almost off key high notes without goin off key

~WOW~, I understand that this is not for you. You'd much rather listen to the 15 millionth Gucci Mane & OJ Da Juiceman collabo. Us on the Booth, however, prefer songwriting skill, vocal soulfulness, and classic production (which this is all of the above).

It's the same with music. If you want healthy ears, you need to learn to appreciate the songs with substance and true depth, not just those that sound "banging". If you "really don't care", then it's your loss. |

Well, the production is creative and has a great energy but I didn't like the overall result. It's a solid song for sure but I'm not crazy for it, wouldn't listen to this again, it annoyes me a lil. She is talented, but she's singing in a weird way here...
