After years of extensive musicological research, I’ve come to find that there are three types of new generation R&B songstresses: the Beyoncés (talent, pop appeal, sex appeal), the Alicias (talent and sex appeal, but more emphasis on talent), and the Ameries, who have much of the same talents as the previous two but for some reason get slept on. With 2009’s In Love & War, Amerie seemed to be screaming at the top of her lungs for some Billboard attention, but unfortunately no one was hearing her. Hopefully that’ll change with her newest effort Who’s Gonna Love You which has the songstress vehemently proclaiming to her (ex) boyfriend over blaring Inkredibles synths that he’ll never find anyone who will love him like she has. With some crisp vocals and enough attitude to scare Tyra Banks, Amerie sounds more than ready to step back into the spotlight. If you’re lovin this track, be sure to look out for her forthcoming, somewhat strangely titled new album Cymatica Vol. 1, which currently has no release date.

This song first appeared on the R&B / Pop Chart on May 24, 2010

While I was a big fan of the live band feel to most of Amerie's last album, the masses were not (the album flopped commercially). Changing it up here makes the singer sound refreshed and lively, but at the same time very similar to the female R&B norm.

Great voice, catchy chorus, and enjoyable production, but I am not sure she has a definitive winner on her hands. We shall see.

She has a good voice but she still isn't doing it for me yet. She's just the average female RnB artist and I still don't see this going anywhere. Hope she can make some money on the next album cause the first one was just a fail.

Someone tell me again why this girl hasn't hit it big yet? She needs to be up there with Beyonce and Rihanna and all the other hot women with talent, by now. Amerie is seriously slept on. Her style just screams the early 2000s to me, her swagger is preserved. She is too talented to go unnoticed.

I love everything about Amerie, she’s beautiful, and she has a great voice. I can’t understand why she isn’t as big as other female R&B artists. I like her new sound, even though she sounds like most other R&B artists out there.

Not to steal Amerie's spotlight but what happened to Mya?? I remember on that Rugrats joint and then she seemed to fade away...

Anyways if she wants to blow up she needs to get with B.o.B and make some magic on a track, this is kwl but it got boring for me towards the end.

I'm on record as being madly in love with Amerie (phone number available upon request if you're reading this Amerie), but I have to agree with Z. It's catchy, but a little average female r&b cookie cutter for me to really get into. She's at her best when she's showing some soul (why don't we fall in love).

Still, I sincerely hope this is the new hit she's been waiting for. Keep doing the damn thing Amerie.

Off top I like it but I'm waiting for a change up here soon. Hope it happens...The hook is cool, Like the break after the 2nd chorus. I guess I'm not going to get a melodic change up. I like the production though. In rotation.

Love the synths
Always a big fan of Amerie and wonders like everyon else why she isnt up there in the r&b world. I agree with Z and I love her live aspect but this track makes her just another R&B artist but I will still give this plenty of spins

Rocking that nice upbeat tempo, this song has me interested. Amerie has alot of talent in that voice of hers. Haven't checked out her most recent album, so I'll be sure to get on that.

Her vocals on this were straight. I'm not blown away, but she has lured me in to the point where I would like to hear more. Production is really the star on this, IMO. I like the change that occurs as the hook comes in. This was a pretty cool track.

While I'm waiting on an explanation of what Cymatica means, I will say that like most have already said, she is one of the hardest working young female artists I've seen. For her to have been out this long, and write and produce much of her music it really shows what a fine line there is for an artist to "Make It". She has the whole package. Talent, Beauty, Work Ethic. Its always been strange to me how people with little to none of those aforementioned qualities can still make it big, and some, not so much. I'll always love Amerie's music, she's been one of my faves ever since "Why Don't We Fall In Love" one of her first singles where she's crooning from a park bench in the video. I still remember picking up the single on vinyl when it came out. "As long as I don't blow, each and every year I'll be the next big thing." - Little Brother (Life of the Party).

The beat was nice, ready for the radios. Her vocals were smooth on this. Wouldn't really listen to this, but it might appeal to others.

The production is brilliant, the hook is appropriately catchy and well-executed, the verses, well they are not quite as memorable, but the whole thing works as a package most satisfyingly. Let's see how this one goes down.

unfortunately this had to enter into my 30 sec rule for me to keep listening since the intro didn't capture me instantly. but over the course of the whole track, i came to enjoy myself, but only "enjoy." i couldn't fully connect with the song. though the story is fine
