Three uniquely creative people from three different English-speaking nations, Blewz (USA), Stacy-Ann (Jamaica), and Steve English (UK), have teamed up to form the hip-hop/pop/reggae trio American Yard. Recently signed by Akon to his Konvict label, the Yard say hello with a bang on the folkway-deviators’ anthem, Yes We Did. The overall feel has a rather Midwestern sound to it (think Bone Thugs/Do or Die), as producer Ike Boogie lends a laid-back beat that will remind many of DJ U-Neek and The Legendary Traxster’s classic production. Those who are tired of the same ‘ol same ‘ol will no doubt want the answer to “Did you hear the new American Yard?” to be ”Yes We Did.”
Stacy-Ann look kind of cute. Like a urban Pippi Longstocking. LOL...I know...Pippi Hoodstocking. I like the production. I can really Ike "Boogie" to it. The vocals are a little cheesy, but I'll throw this is rotation. It's better than most of the stuff out nowadays on the radio.
Sound like a new Barney theme song to me. "I love you, you love me..." I'm listening as I write but its becoming unbearable. Throw Jeezy on it or something
I agree with justokhall! The production is good, I'm feeling the beat and the music, but the melody isn't so good. The chorus is quite unbearable, no u did yes we did no u did yes we did grrr!
Let me explain how good quality pop music is created. Writers come together and decide on wording that the MAJORITY of the public will have an easy time remembering. The kind of hook or verse that gets subliminally stuck in your head and you cannot get it out for days, week or even months. YES WE DID is that kind of song. The song where you listen, and hours later you find yourself singing the chorus. If you are, the group did their job; like it or not.
I'm really diggin' this song! It's catchy and has a feel good international pop vibe to it. Definitely a pop smash!!! Can't wait for their album to drop!
It's about time that I'm finally hearing quality music again! Thanks American Yard for bringing something unique and different to the music game. "Yes We Did" is a certified banger and will be a worldwide top 40 hit. Get ready world, American Yard has arrived!!!
