Alicia Keys’ brand new album, As I Am, is in stores today and on its heels is a Reggae remix to the lead single, No One, featuring Damien Marley. Both Keys and Marley went into the studio to record the new version, allowing Keys to tweak her vocals for several melody changes that are interpolated into a dumb down version of the original Krucial Keys beat. Amazingly enough the song doesn’t seem forced and will exist in it of itself—instead of coming off as a forced collaboration to harbor wide spread interest in the record. Keys’ is at the top of her game and no one can touch her.
Damn Alicia is bangin in that pic! With my dad being from Trinidad and having grown up on a Bob Marley Music Diet; I must say that this remix is somewhat out of place in this genre. It is a beautiful song by itself. The beat almost sounds like too much of a stretch. I like the fact that they actually re-did the song over for the remix; but it doesn't really do it for me...blah...
I slightly agree with DJ Blaze on overdoing it on the beat but about halfway through the song you start feeling the vibe they intended you to feel. Alicia Keys sounds superb regardless of the music and Damien continues to prove that he is the future of reggae. It would be interesting to hear Cassidy's remix and Kanye's remix fused into this track!
I love Bob Marley, and this is good; even I too agree with Dj Blaze! Although I'm not gone lie when I'm at the reggae club this @*#$! be crazy and I will be bumpin this in my hood. Ya dig, cant take away too much credit, over doing it or not because DJ Blaze when you play this in the club people will be like Ra,Ra,Ra!!!!!!!
ha dam i didn't lisin to it the 1st time but yeah if you like listin to it and ... dam haha it makes since and wow haha .... good remix ... its like a whole different taste .... that tastes weird at 1st but u got to like it after you realy try it .... u know ha
ima agree with Dj mcm...not every song needs a remix...and "no one" was one of those songs that didnt...buuut this song is koo..alicia can pretty much pull anything off
