Alexis Jordan - Happiness
Artist: Alexis Jordan
Producer: Stargate (Co-prod Deadmau5)
Album: Untitled Debut
Label: StarRoc/Roc Nation/Columbia
If you’re searching for Happiness, you’ve come to the right place. Believe it or not, the debut single from new Roc Star/Roc Nation/Columbia signee Alexis Jordan contains the key to a fulfilling life free of worry and care. OK, ok, I made that up (early April Fools!) but, in truth, the record does have a lot going for it. Over the driving, compulsively body-moving boardwork of heavyweight production duo Stargate, the 17-year-old, Colombian-born singer recounts how she walked out of a rocky relationship, only to realize just how much she’d been taking for granted and come right back to the man she’d left behind. Jordan’s smooth, likable vocals should leave few unimpressed, and the “Mm mm mm mm” hook seems expressly designed for maximum hummability. Could we have a hit on our hands? I’ll leave it to you, the readers to speculate. If this track succeeds in making you happy, keep it locked to you-know-where for the latest on this rising star’s debut studio album, which has yet to receive either a title or a solid release date from the label brass.

I know, I know - this doesn't "fit the Booth." I'll spare you all the need to leave that comment haha.
This definitely appeals to a younger, club-going (and music purchasing) crowd, but that doesn't mean that older, hip hop heads cannot appreciate a record that is catchy. Dudes will swear on their unborn careers that this record is whack, but it'll be on their ipods... Just watch. |

What do you mean this doesn't fit the booth?!...i thought you guys were more open minded about playing things...i didn't know you guys only except what people in the booth might like...wow i'm pretty disappointed if that's the case and i love pop music, matter of fact i love good music...but cmon' this wouldn't dare be on my iPod this song is just wack...why would jay do this to her...what an ass...this will get here no where fast...ok just because her vocals aren't bad and harsh...

Not feeling this song here but she can sing. I bet she's gonna have a hit in the future too. If Jay turned Rihanna into one, a talented singer like Alexis should be no problem and Stargate is behind the boards. Yeah, we'll she more of her soon.

I am not going to buy this simply cause I am not her targeted audience. but I definetely prefer this over lots of sung/rapped stuff by grown people anyway.

This is a good start for newcomer Alexis Jordan. The sound may be too pop for most listeners, but I can actually see something out of it. After all, I do play J-Pop artists like Kana Nishino and Koda Kumi on my podcast, so who am I to argue ;)
I can actually imagine a remix to "Happiness." The beat and instrumental would be more hardcore, and the guest artist would be, more or less, ironic. If I were a producer, I could do a full 180° on her track. I'll keep tabs on the track for now, and put Alexis Love on my music radar. |

Not something I would personally play at home, but like Z I've got a feeling she's going to be huge. Great voice and she can do the dance/pop thing with skill. Don't be surprised if she's huge in a few years.

Even though this is as generic as techno beat melody goes, it is exactly what the club DJ’s need to get everyone on the dance floor and get lost in the song. Mission accomplished!

Has a very good beat kind of reminds me a little bit of Techno - Like david Guetta - Very good beat despite that the lyrics were stupid "quick quick now" was very annoying

Anyone with Sirius Radio knows Jordan's Happiness would fit right in BPM's rotation without a problem. She's talented and sounds like she would do well as a cross over artist but I like her sound just the way it is. The club floors would turn into a sweaty mosh pit of dancers with this record. Definitely would have longevity within the dance realm.

Not bad, words are a little pre-school but maybe that was on purpose? Total dance track, where words don't matter just beats to sway too!

if anyone on this site notices the music i like....well, its this kind. its the club/party music. i dont care if its pop, if its a girl, or if it has corny lyrics. its still FEEL GOOD MUSIC. obviously this girl has talent, and it shows with how well this was put together.
