Even if you’re from Alaska, I’m sure you’ve got a good taste of the South’s sounds in your music repertoire. However, there’s a major distinction between listening to the music and truly experiencing the region they call the Dirt-ay, a place like none other on Earth. But if you’ve never personally made it South of the Mason-Dixon line, don’t worry, Aleon Craft and Nappy Roots are here to deliver a funky fresh description of A Different World. Combined with SMKA’s masterful and soulful beat (huge props to anyone who can place the vocal sample), Craft and Roots break down the best of living in such a unique place, from moonshine in mason jars to slow riding to finishing off the night with a plate of eggs and grits. If you liked this true taste of “country living”, be sure to keep an eye out for this (along with a a gang of other southern artists) on the upcoming Stargazing Soundtrack project, hosted by Mick Boogie & Terry Urban, due out late this summer via DJBooth.

Just flew back into Chicago this evening, so I'm going to have to be brief...

This record is fantastic. I blasted this on repeat in my hotel room this past weekend.

Wow, when the melody hit, I totally lost it. I'm digging the intro and cuts without the melody, but I can't get into the awkward melody behind the verses. Flows are solid, but I don't see myself getting into this one...unfortunately. Waste of potential.

Aleon Craft and SMKA, like none other. Actually, in the Aleon spectrum this isn't actually that out there - the banging drums and Nappy Roots flows keep it grounded. If you demand originality from your hip-hop, like I do, you have to be feeling this.
