Previously heard on the hooks of Thad Reid‘s Cruzin’ and Look My Way, Jamaican-born, Atlanta-based singer Akshan has cashed in his favors and enlisted the Blue Collar emcee for his first Booth feature as a headliner. On newly-leaked album inclusion Functional Addict, the artist makes a relatively unsurprising confession: he simply can’t get enough of the herb (aka weed, ganja, bud, haze…). Reid can clearly relate to Akshan’s marijuana dependency; in his closing verse, the Virginia native dispels all doubts as to his his drug of choice: “Got people thinkin’ I’m all about sippin’, but I’m all about the green stuff.” Backed by Brian “B-Keyz” Wilson’s midtempo blend of jackhammer percussion and aggressive electric-guitar riffage, this THC-drenched banger is sure to become the soundtrack for many a smoking session, but those who choose not to partake are still well-advised to give it a spin. For more hot hip-hop/dancehall jams, check out the currently unsigned artist’s The I-Brid LP, set to hit stores and online retailers sometime in spring of 2010.

Listened to this on repeat this morning. Rock-influenced vibe is powerful. Contrary to the belief you need to be high to enjoy this song, you indeed to do not. Will you like it less? Maybe, but overall its catchy.

By the time the song's over, the only thing memorable about it is the hard-rock influenced production by Wilson and the guest verse from That Reid. I was left unimpressed by Akshan bcos this beat doesn’t lend itself well to his Caribbean-flavored vocals.

For a song about weed, this sure is an hyperactive track. There production would be more appropriate for a track called Funktional Meth Addict.

hot joint. i'm diggin the fact that it's not a typical reggae style beat if this akshan kat can flow like this over a rock beat, he can prolly flow over anything. i'm feelin' the production. where's my spliff...

The rock beat is hot, but something with the vocals don't mesh well. Akshon's talent is evident, but the production needs work. Thad did well, but could have come stronger. Its really a 2.5 stars

I think this is a pretty sick beat. True that it doesn't exactly fit the herb music nature, but still it can hold all types of audiences so that's something. I could see more fresh hits coming from this dude.

I think this song is really energetic. Don't understand the reason of such low ratings.
