Ever wonder what Rick Ross’s mainstream debut single, Hustlin’, would sound like as an R&B song? Allow us to introduce your inquisitive ears to Akon’s newest single, I’m So Paid. Produced by the man himself, the record is the second official release from the Konvict leader’s forthcoming third studio album, Freedom. Bragging about the hours he works and the money he makes as a result, Kon doesn’t deliver material that is unheard of; he just does it in a way that is catchier than most. With an assist from Lil’ Wayne, who is once again back on the auto-tune bandwagon, expect the record to impress in the same way as their previous collaborative works (Sweetest Girl, We Takin’ Ova) and be a force at mainstream radio. Though Freedom won’t be freed until after Thanksgiving (11/25), I’m So Paid is available for online purchase today.
Fire! This song is plain fire! You can give me this song over "Right Now Na Na" any day! The production on here is insane, it brings a new element of Akon's production because it's really different from his past. Weezy takes this song from a 4 to a 5 in my opinion because his flow fits so perfectly with the production. Damn, this is one of those gangster tracks that will impact major pop radio too. Crazy joint, this is the type of music that makes me dream of 1 day working in the music industry LOL! Classic song!
The mix between Akon's voice and the beat on this song is beautiful. I like it a heck of a lot better than Right Na (NaNa), which is an annoying song in my mind. I also like the way Lil' Wayne sings on this song. He is so great mixing his voice with the beats, which is why he is great. I do believe that this could be a radio hit, although it could take a little getting used to. Also a very short song.
At first when I heard this song I didnt think that much of it. But after it grew on me I started loving it. The production is hot and the beat is blazing!! Akon's voice is smooth and his lyrics are good and Weezy always does his hot feature. Lil' Wayne killed it on this one. You cant ask much more from a rapper that can basically rap on any beat and fits in. This is straight 5! Classic! This my slap right here boy!
Akon performs so well on this song, some of his strongest verses. WAYNE- STOP THE VOCODER!!!! This song could have been up there with Lloyd's You (top weezy collabo), but the vocoder killed it. I have not accepted the vocoder on rappers yet, never will. QUIT!
itz akon people. seriously wut iz there to hate on...can somebody think of n-e-thing...x-actly NUTH-N! hiz voice iz soooo perfect plus lil weezy f. baby wuz fya also!!! classic.
AKON STILL ON MY TOP LIST! #1!!!! Akon hurry up and get that Freedom out!!!! I can guarantee I'm the BIGGEST Akon fan here! No joke!, This song and production is FIREE!! Wayne did it on here!, NO ONE CAN HATE ON THE AUTO-TUNE CAUSE THIS IS A BANGERR!!! Akon KILLED IT and so did Weezy!! Akon did an AMAZING job on the production, Matches them both so well!! CRAZYY!! HURRY FREEDOM!!!!
im sure i'll be the only one to call this GARBAGE... but this is GARBAGE.. only because i can NOT stand akon's voice.. im so over it... ya'll might like it, but this is a no go for me...
this kinda reminds me of his other song "right now" or whatever it's called...it's cool...i'm liking the direction of his new album. i think it's gonna be good..
This song is ok! Call me a hater but I don't wanna hear rich cats talkin bout what they got these days. Everybody I know is struggling. We in Recession man. Can you share a buck instead of tellin us bout it? Thats just my thoughts. As far as the beat, it's all over the place! The melody is just not consistant on first listen. Kinda abstract. Not really for me. Weezy kills everything all the time.
Production is what's up! I'm really digging the music. It's not a classic to me though. It seems a little generic. It doesn't move me emotionally. I'll give it a 3 for being very finely polished on all other aspects though. Wayne sounded the best he's ever sounded on the auto tune . See, I like the auto tune when people get stylish with it and do something more than just talk/rap like the would without it. If they are doing that, there simply is no point. Wayne does it pretty well, Kanye definitely upgraded the bar with "Love Lockdown" and Drake with his sing-song type flow does well with it too. Overall, a solid joint.
If the subject was more relevant, it'd be classic material! But I'm with BDF on this one. I prefer any rapper without the voice box, but at least on R&B tracks it's acceptable.
Another track by Akon? Dj Booth you do some favoritism! Just joking. The production on here is very good, it's energetic and catchy, but when I heard the beginning of this song I expected more...it bored me a bit! I mean, it's a good song, I rarely heard bad songs by Akon, but the hook isn't that great. The voicebox didn't annoy me, that's weird. Lil' Wayne sounded great in his verse! I'm actually worried about my new opinion about him...bet that I'll start feeling him everywhere?!
Nice synth lines in the beat and Akon's voice flows nicely on it. The synth lines also make Wayne's use of the Autotune fit perfectly for once. Dig his verse too. "We, carry choppers on our necks, call it cutthroat." nice bar.
sniper sitting on a roof....g00nz sound like a sound ill like ... :p this song is nice akon did his thang.. wayne was gud the voice box is gud he uses it well ( real talk ) banger
The production on here is OK. Akon sure is everywhere nowadays, but that's a good thing because he is usually nice! This is just too normal sounding for me. I think it is the production that makes it sound so generic. Lil wayne really gives the song a better dynamic. This can definitely go into rotation, thanks to Weezy...I am getting a little tired of him, but not too much yet!
this might seem weird but it feels like i havent heard new material from weezy in awhile so this was refreshing lol. anyways i realise i dont like akons voice that much .... anyways decent song . 3 stars.
liked this song soon as i heard it.. production is catchy and lil wayne delivers something i'll listen to, despite my slight bias against him, he does deliver good music at times. Akon is his normal catchy self. 4*, i like having a generic song every now and then in my playlist, so long as its got good flow n melody
I love the song all the way around. The beat, production, lyrics, artist and feature. However, BDF44, I do agree with you man 110%. Spread a little love.
haha spread the love? give me a break. Shoulda told the government that before the bailout then everyone would be paid. Anyways this is a great song. Beat goes great with both artists in this song and what's better than 2 of the hottest out there comin together right here. Weezy is fire AGAIN. WEIRD.
i think dat dey coulda came harder den dis...n i agree wit people about getting tired of lil wayne...he needa chill out n take a break....BDF44: even tho we n a recession, im happy to hear dat sumbody is makin money. im sure u didnt mean to sound like a hater, jus a blac man angry at da govt n da situation we r n, but i hate when ppl think entertainers shud b criticized for makin money. y shud dey share dey money wit u, jus cuz u strugglin?...dey weren't born into money dey had to go out n get it jus like u...
AKON SURE KNOWS HOW TO MAKE CATCHY TUNES AND RADIO HITS AND THIS IS ANOTHER,PRODUCTION WAS GOOD AND HE STICKS TO A FORMULA THAT WORKS WELL FOR HIM,WEEZY MIGHT HAVE OVER DONE IT WITH THE AUTO TUNE WUD HAVE BEEN BETTER WITH HIS NORMAL VOICE BUT OTHER THAN THAT IM SO PAID WILL BE GETTING PLENTY OF PLAY!!!
akon..chamillionaire..and 50 cent write the best hooks in my opinion. Therefore the hook on here is iLL in my opinion..weezy definately betters this song. but you allready knew that. banger
Heard this the other day. It started to grow on me after hearing it for the 2nd time, and this time I know this track is real hot. It usually takes me multiple times to listen to a song before it really grows on me.
It fits the radio mold like a glove (that's not a good thing) but weezy can ride beats so well that he smashes this and outshines Akon....Real Talk can dude really sing? I mean we know T Pain can sing a lil bit without AutoTune but can Akon?
the song is alright i mean its nothin out this world ive heard both of them sing better stuff personally im tired of both weezy and akon they are both sick but im jus tired of them
im f33lin dis song... I b33n bumpin it 3v3rytym3 i b3 on h3r3 which is crazy... Dis a bang3r to m3... Lil' Wayn3 b3 on it and doin his thang lik3 always... Akon also good in dis 1...
akon AND weezy? crazy im really feeling the production on this track, they actually played this on our local radio station on "battle of the beats" it crushed a bobby v. song in votes. but yeah great track.
