As an artist, Akon certainly dropped off the face of the earth didn’t he? Or at least it feels that way in today’s incredibly fast-paced music game. After going well over a year without a solo feature, the Konvict boss/singer continues to blaze the comeback trail (see previous effort Take a Chance) with his new single, Angel. As of press time the producer’s identity remains a mystery (I’m guessing David Guetta), but regardless the song maintains a repetitive, electro boogie feel to it, something that seems to be leading the airwaves lately. This sound meshes quite well with Akon’s distinct voice though, so unless you’re dead set against the new club sound, I’ll bet you’ll have a pretty good time. At the very least, it will definitely continue to get the singer’s name back in the spotlight, which was probably the primary purpose of Angel. I, for one, am glad to see Akon make his return, and will be looking out for his upcoming album, Stadium Music, yet be given a release date.

Akon makes great albums. Not many radio singers make a hit single into a good album. While I'm still excited for Stadium Music, Angel isn't quite what I'm looking for. It's missing that extra originality that Akon usually brings.

Typical Akon. His material is aimed to hit in the club (I respect that) and no longer break the boundaries his earlier material set out to do. Its okay, though, he has Lady Gaga to fall back on.

Before I hear this being blasted on every radio station and club around the world, I just have to say that I did in fact enjoy this. Akon has a nice voice and his past three albums are all fantastic. Very poppy, but still pretty good. 3.5

Man, I feel like I'm writing the same comment every time. Personally, this would never find its way into my music collection, but club-pop tracks like this are ruling the charts, so I can't hate on Akon. Go ahead and get your hit man, I just won't be listening.

I can see people jamming to this. Hopefully Gaga's success doesn't affect his comeback. He had that one good year and fell back though he was consistent prior.

U know something.... what is the difference btwn this song and 'whos that chick' (david guetta ft. rihanna). The beat of this song and the one mentioned above are very similar (they should be since david guetta produced both songs) yet 'whos that chick' is a worldwide hit and evry1 is praisin rihanna and we hav ppl hatin on this song. This song is as good as that one but for some reason, ppl find easy to criticize Akon nowadays.... POP music goes very well with Akon's voice.. If u dont lyk it; then go listen 2 the justin bieber's and bruno mars's of dis world (gay guys)
