Named in honor of his Stockholm-suburb hometown, Swedish MC Adam Tensta released his debut album It’s A Tensta Thing late last year. The album’s first single, My Cool, was instantly a huge hip-hop/techno jam in Sweden; and why shouldn’t it have been? Cooked up like a certain Chef overseas (børk, børk- sorry, couldn’t resist), Tensta delivers slick rhymes, coupled with a power-pop, hit-worthy beat. But as the expression goes, at least here in America, “the proof is in the pudding,” or in this case, the music. Who knows, maybe Adam Tensta will be the biggest Swedish-American crossover since meatballs and lingonberries?! Until then, however, Bon Appétit.
I hardly post but when I do, and it's for a track tha's not all that good, I usually say....It's not garbage, so I can't give it a 1. lol. Don't think it'll make it on an urban scene but then again it could work in a house/techno spot. I don't play there though, so it's not in rotation for me.
This is some pretty funky stuff. The guitar melody combined with the deep bass-line creates an interesting combination between hip-hop, rock, and techno. This record has no chance for airplay in America's corrupted mainstream rap scene, but I can fully understand why it will fly overseas.
Initially, I thought this was techno/house but it does have a nice hip-hop vibe to it. I like different, thus this track will get a fair rating. I wonder if there ever will be a surge of international MC's in the U.S.; a takeover like the international players are doing in the NBA. This track has the potential to do some serious damage in the techno/club scene. I am going to have to check it out. Adam delivers a solid performance on this song.
You don't need to reside outside of the country to appreciate this as quality music. It is unique, catchy and danceable. Those are three qualities that 7/10 artists here in the US FAIL to understand. Want your stuff played in the clubs? Listen to Adam Tensta.
haha....im kind of feeling the beat..not so rock-starish but i can dig it..but the lyrics..different story..keep that over the seas..rating for beat only
THIS SHIT IS HOTTTTTTTTT! Man if you guys could only come to Germany where I spin, I get you guys saying, "Damn, this shit is FYREE". O well, DJ Blaze is right, I dont understand why people in US hate on Dance/ HipHop crossover, I mean US LOVES Reggea/HipHop, Pop/Hiphop? O well, I gotta give this props to rep for all the homies across the drink. Holla! DJ MCM HOW U DO thAT COOL TEXT ALL BOLD AND STUFF
Update! Just pre-orderd on vinyl, gonna drop it in the clubs as soon as I get it. Its gonna get people CRAZY. I talked to a friend of mine, DJ Kaskade, who mainly does Dance/House, and he wants me to get it for him to! Im not though, Ge-town (thats what I call Germany) gonna here it first.
Im really liking the beat. It sort of sounds like something from the 80s mixed with a good dance beat. The production is pretty sweet too. His flow also is nice on this.
The beat is mad dope, and the delivery is okay. It's not anything to jump around about. Although, it will get a crowd or party jumping...so it goes into rotation.
i didnt expect that voice 2 cum outta him- it was deep. I didn't like da beat at all. The beat wuz da worst part- i can hardly consider it a beat-(lol)
DJ Z made some great points! it is very danceable, good production and very unique! Im from Australia and this will be big in the clubs over here, i will get everyone onto this song! I love my rap and r&b, but who says you only have to listen to just one! TONE+Chef put it best when he said it aint gone get airplay in America's corrupted mainstream rap scene! dont hate on the international artists!
I've been here in Czech for a year and this is something they would love in the club. Not really my style though...It's not what I grew up with in the States but it's not that bad. I'll add it to the playlist.
