Of all the regions that have yet to make a name for themselves as hip-hop hot spots, the Carolinas are looking like the next to blow. Oh, you want actual proof to back up that assertion? Then I present you with… Actual Proof, a Raleigh duo so fresh and talented that “n*ggas can’t Breathe” when they come through. Amp of Soul Council mans the mixing boards, cooking up a street-red, piano-led back complete with a hook sampled from Fabolous’ cut of the same name. Lyrically, Enigma and Sundown keep things smooth and sophisticated, dropping bars that sound like they could’ve been ripped from a spy flick’s screenplay: “Counterfeit passport and travel with a plan for green / Swiss bank account, document a falsified name, learn game from Jason Bourne…” Lending a hand on the guest tip, fellow First in Flight state repper Rapsody laces the front with some characteristically high-impact braggadocio. All hail 9th Wonder, who continues to sign/work with super talented artists from his region. Interestingly enough, none of the emcees (three in total) allow the record to "Breathe" much - its just raw spittin line after line. And for those of you who enjoy that type of hip hop, you should find yourself enjoying the record.

I agree with DJ Z on this, the song sounds too crowded in this. I think there should have been a lil pause in between verses, or atleast a better chorus. The chorus really wasnt enough for me...
I was really happy to see Rapsody in this. Im a huge fan of her work, and this is why. She's really great. I really like the production from AMP in this. Im really loving the old-school feel to this record. |

Once again, the type of hip hop that I love that you only find on the Booth! Types of records like this with a simple beat just let you focus on the lyrics and lets the artist showcase their flow. Fire.

I thought 9th produced this track. Maybe I'm thinking of a different Actual Proof song.
I agree, it's too crowded in this IMO. |

As this song went on, i started liking it more and more. i honestly dont even know where i stand on it now so i gotta hit the dead middle. 3 stars.

Props to Amp on this - those cuts and samples are perfect. Now that's a toast to the DJ.
And of course the rhymes are on point - Rapsody's consistently one of my favorites, and Act Proof are continuing to prove that actually NC is home to some of the best new hip-hop in the game.

Really like this song, i just wish there was a way I could get that annoying breathing sound out of it... It cuts into the verse every 5 seconds n is the only reason in my opinion why this isn't a banger.
