Ace Hood - Life Style [Premiere]
Artist: Ace Hood
Featuring: Sean Kingston
Producer: Boi-1da
Album: Unreleased
Label: We The Best/Def Jam/IDJMG
As an L.A. resident I’m accustomed to living a certain life style: beautiful weather, beautiful women and the occasional riot, but even my sunniest days can’t compare to the cash soaked Life Style southern flamespitter Ace Hood and teen sensation Sean Kingston have in mind. Ace, whose last Booth offering Bed Room Music didn’t exactly light sheets on fire, goes radio-hit-or-bust on Life Style as he follows the blueprint laid down by Whatever You Like with rhymes about, what else, having money and spending money, sentiments echoed by Kingston (wait, is he even old enough to go to a strip club?). On the production tip Boi-1da, who’s been absolutely murdering beats lately (see his work on Not Afraid), takes it light and easy, offering Ace and Sean a lightly snapping beat to do their stunting over. Love it or hate it, I’ve got a feeling this one’s gonna be making its way over to radio soon. And if it does, I’m sure we’ll get more concrete details on Ace’s as yet untitled and unscheduled new album.

"Life Style" is the epitome of the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" model in hip hop. You take club/radio-ready production, add a guest singer with some above average singing chops, and add in an emcee with plenty of energy and charisma. It's not Ace's fault that the invention of the wheel pre-dates his entry into the industry. This could work if they decide to roll with it.
Sidebar: We are aware there two other versions of this record exist. Both are not official records and leaked before the placement of this track was secured. |

Boi-1da is straight killin em lately. He's becoming a must-have on each album. Good song, but I never hopped onto the Sean Kingston bus, he's okay but not great.

I have been waiting for an Ace Hood summer jam. Two years ago it was Cash Flow, last year it was Overtime and this year it looks like its going to be Life Style. This song is nothing like Cash Flow or Overtime, but my summer wasn't going to be the same without an Ace jam.
In comparison to the other two, this is not the best but it has the most mainstream potential. I do not know why but Sean Kingston is almost a lock on any hook you put him on, he just has that sort of pop flow that people eat up. Not as clutch as Akon or the king of hooks T-Pain, but he is getting there. Ace does a decent job with his verses but I am not sure if this sort of song suits him. Yea it could get a bit of radio play but I don't know if it will blow up. Ace is an underrated up and coming rapper who has been in the game longer than most people expected. I hope he gets the attention he deserves some day soon. |

with you DJ Brookllen, Ace Hood deserves the attention, he makes some dam good music. Not a fan of Sean Kingston, just never appealed to me, but I am liking the beat, not amazing, but you can't say it's bad. Keep em' coming Ace. Missin' his fast flow!

At Z, i think the motto should be "If it ain't broke, time to make it better". The song is nice, I liked it, but it's a "fit in" song. I think its time to stand out.

This is gonna be a radio hit. who wouldnt dream about this lifestyle????
Im not feeling Ace Hood 100 % on this Song. Sean Kingstons steals the show here with a sick Chorus. Great job on the beat. it sounds though more made for a song for Kingston with Ace Hood as a Guest and not the other way around. |

This gets a 2 from me on the "would I personally listen to this again? scale, and a 4 on the "will it hit with its intended demographic?" scale, so we'll average it out to a 3.
No hate, go do your thing, but I'd like to point out that not everyone dreams of this lifestyle. I'm married to an incredible woman, have a beautiful baby and make good, not crazy money; I wouldn't trade my life style for all the diamonds and strippers in the world. That's real talk. The first time in hip-hop h |

I have never been a fan of Ace Hood or Sean Kingston and with that said and done, nothing will change after just hearing this track. There were alot of ups and downs with this one. On one hand, the production from Boi-1da was sick and the hook wasn't as horrible as I thought it would be.
Verses were decent, but nothing worth remembering. I feel as though without guest appearances, Ace would fall off. This track wasn't bad. |

This Beat is serious! I'm a Boi-1da fan for sure now. I like how that semi offset hi-hat makes the beat kinda crawl along. Sean Kingston's vocals are toned down a bit in this song, and doesn't sound like he ususally does. Good catchy song. 4 stars from Equinox Productions for the beat Boi-1da.

Damn, the production is hot from Boi-1da. Sean Kingston sounded good on this one. Couldn't even tell it was him. Ace was alright, could've done better.

This track will have a 2 week life span and then everybody will forget about this. Ace Hood has no personality, hes too hood for his own good to reach mainstream. To Kingston, sit down and take notes about how to compose better types of music. The production is decent considering its Boi-1da, and he does epic work.

Ace Hood has plenty of charasmatic features packed with energy in this track which makes it work.
Sean's soft and light vocals for the chorus of the track is smooth. Boi-1da has done another great production on the track and I wish he keeps it up. This track is a sort of track which you would bang on the radio during the summertime. I have heard the other two versions with lil twist and Joe Yock, this version hands down is the better version. It's probably because Ace delivers what the other two don't have which is passion in their lyrics. |

Ace is rough on this. Just not good at all. Hardly memorable. Beat is solid. Kingston does a good job delivering a catchy and singable hook.

I'm a pretty big Ace Hood fan, but this doesn't really cut it for me. I like when I can feel Ace's energy and he didn't really have his normal energy on this. The beat's catchy but nothing special, and Kingston fits it well.

The lyrics trade on a predictable clichéd array of concerns. To be fair he had a decent delivery for all the mundanity of his lyrics, and the production of the track is less annoying than the Sean Kingston's vocals. 2.5

Yall seen them shows ya know...take a slightly busted chic, get her to lose 40-50 pounds, get a boob job, and some schnazzy new clothes and BAM...instant dime. Same thing here, Ace, a slightly busted MC, gets a hot ass beat from Boi1da and schnazzy guest appearance from Sean and bam...instant radio/ club play. It's amazing what a makeover can do.
