By my estimation, there are few emcees who pour more Blood, Sweat & Tears into their hustle than the Ace Hood; despite a career that’s had its share of setbacks, the indefatigable Panhandle State repper has responded to every setback by continuing to grind ever-harder. That can-do attitude is on full display on Go N Get It, single numero dos off Hood’s forthcoming full-length. Here, a characteristically street-ready instrumental by production wunderkind Lex Luger (who, notably, manages to make harpsichord sound hard as nails) clatters in the background as the freestyle series alumnus updates listeners on his eternal quest for cash. In between declarations of commitment to his paper chase, Hood gives us a little insight into the personal struggles that motivate his grind: ”Bills due, money runnin’ low / Plus my cousin lost her mind and had an overdose.” Will Ace’s third studio album finally bring him the success he needs in order to make financial worries a thing of the past? We won’t know for certain till Blood, Sweat & Tears arrives on store shelves later this year.

Very similar to 'Hustle Hard'... way too similar for my liking. The beat from Luger really is a poor effort. I've heard Ace kill a few tracks in the past, this unfortunately ain't one of them

This would be a dope street record with the potential to spawn hundreds of freestyles... if it hadn't already been done, I don't know, 2-3 times in the last 6 months? I'm sorry, but Ace is more talented than this effort and Lex Luger doesn't deserve a paycheck for this lackluster, stale effort.

As soon as this started, I couldn't help but think Hustle Hard. I love the production on this though. Nice second single. He just needs more variety in his flow and his producers....Lex Luger is very repetitive with his beats.

In a day and age when there are already too many songs that "sound the same," this may be one of the least original songs I've heard. I can easily vouch that I've heard covers of songs more entertaining than this. Wack.

Ace needs something more original than this. After BMF, other Rick Ross/Wale songs, and Wiz Khalifa's Cabin Fever mixtape I'm pretty sick of Lex Luger's recycled production.
I'd hate to see both Ace Hood and Wale falling into the category of rappers I used to like. |
