On November 18 of ‘08, DJ Khaled protégé and South Florida native Ace Hood released his debut album, Gutta. At last report, that album has only sold 90,000 copies after four months on the charts; though some might see that as motivation to retire, Ace has learned from his mistakes and plans to take take a no-holds-barred approach on his sophomore album, Ruthless. The first buzz single sees him comparing the hip-hop game to a sport; determined to win at all costs, Ace is working Overtime to make sure he gets to the top and doesn’t see a repeat of his debut’s disappointing sales. Konvict Muzik‘s twin towers, Akon and T-Pain, bring their skills to the powerful hook and the semi-exhausted bridge, but The Runners’ epic-sounding beat is the most inspired element of Overtime—sports stadium/arena anthem, anyone? Though Ruthless has yet to receive a solid release date, We the Best/Def Jam are aiming for a late summer drop date; keep it locked to the DJBooth for more news and info.

I like Ace Hood. I always thought he was good. I love his energy here and he didn't disappoint. I'm always lovin Akon on the hook and T-Pain sounded good on here as well. Great production by The Runners. This sounds like a hit to me.

I like the anthem-feel production can definitely see this as a pump-song. Ace Hood has some nice lyrics still not that good but his agressiveness works. He should of just had Akon or T-Pain but not both because I dont think it works. Hook is still solid in rotation

Burmy hit it on the head with the powerful hook statement. The hook is for sure radio ready but Ace Hood always seems to be missing something to me. I can't put my finger on it. With the A-list feature artists I can't go lower than a 3 but no higher so far. I typed this comment after listening to it once. You know how some songs just don't hit you until like the 5th time you hear it.

I think there is a reason dude couldnt sell many copies: he aint nothin special. Don't get me wrong, this track is cool, but is it really b/c of Ace? or is it just the Production and Management teams? Like Z said, we'll see if Ace can do this type of hot track on his own...

I hated Ace Hood on DJ Khaled's recent CD, but this song has great pace and energy. Akon and T-Pain in one song is a novelty that I'm glad happened. Definitely impressed by this song.

This right here sounds a little bit over-commercial which may have been the reason for disappointing sales the first time around. The beat isn't all that, and the chorus is just OK. I expect more from all the "fire-power" on this track. Ace Hood's lyrics are decent, but nothing really standout. T-Pain sounds the best on here, and he could have had this song all to himself and it would have been a lot better. As it stands, it can just barely make it into rotation.

I was definitely waiting for a new Ace track and he somewhat delivers on this one ... Ruthless Aggression ... Then Akon on hook gives you no option but to sit up and listen ... The production is really good, it has energy and it's catchy ... but i doubt dis cant blow the way 'Cash Flow' did ...

I find it hard to believe that his album has only sold like 90,000 that whole album is pretty good. Love his energy and the album did include alot of guest appearances I agree with Z that he should put out an album with hardly no guest apperances so he can quiet the haters.

I've been a really strong supporter of Ace Hood ever since I've heard Cash Flow, its unfortunate his album didn't sell well though. I agree with Z, one of the hardest songs I've heard ace on is his Addiction freestyle (has a music video too), he kills it all alone in that song. I feel like this song needs a lil more energy to get that full ace hood feel, in rotation because I know ace can do better.

well first off take t-pain off the record and just add more of ace hood have him sing that part... he cant be no worst singer then t-pain .... then tell akon to get a lil more creative on the hook...and also need to to be mix and mastered better... over all i like the idea... i respect ace hood keep doing your thing

Another epic production by The Runners (still got Speedin Remix in rotation lol). I like Ace Hood's energy and he wants you to listen. I definitely think Ace Hood can do this type of song alone (Money Ova Here on Gutta). Akon has a great hook and I loved the bridge by T-Pain (especially the chill clap part in the beginning of his part) BANGERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

@DJ Z - I don't think so, unfortunately. It just won't happen. But this song is very nice. I'm on the fence about Akon as an artist. He's just a little TOO mainstream. T-Pain is one of my favorite artists. And Ace is dependent on other artists. But, I like the overall feel of this song. So it's a high 3. But I'll round up.

I'll always love and appreciate Ace or any Florida native. Ace knows how make a hit. T-Pain and Akon always bring the heat to any and everyhting. The chorus is nice this is cathcy. This is a definite radio hit.

To be fair on Ace, I thought that he proved he can go without assistance on 'Get Em' on Gutta, though I doubt he could carry mediocre production (though not many rappers can these days). |

Before even listening to the track, you can almost expect what you're going to be hearing....Sick production by the Runners, one of the better synth-based production teams out there right now...Some serious Florida State sound on this one...it bangs hard in would sound great in the whip...Ace's energy is hard (as always) but I feel like his flow could be smoother and more defined....I'm giving this 3.5, but because T-Pain lost his teeth I'll round up to a 4. almost a banger...

i think that this is a good song...ace's part wasn't the best for me...he didn't really kill it...but yet at the same time akon and t-pain sorta even him out...i love akons voice in this one...especially how it just ripes like that from the beginning...it makes u just wanna keep looking for whats next in this track...i like it...an def a radio hit...oh lol...an this is my 11th time listening to it...lls!!!

Was it just me or did Akon sound slightly like MJ in the beggining? Hood did nothing for me really if someone like Ross did it I would have likedd it better. Akon and T-Pain did it for me mostly, Ace is yet to impress me or even prove himself capable to me for that matter.

This was incredible. But Akon "money on my mind". Come on man. Every body uses the same line. Change it up man. Let alone Akon voice can give you a serious headache "over the course of time." Ace ripped this beat to shreds, and itself was straight fire.

this one is a classic, the message is unbelievably strong and motivational, that is why i like ace hood because of his unique flow and passion when he raps, he brings it to the table on every record i heard so far, ruthless should be a grammy nominated cd if u hear all of his tracks so far, akon delievered on the hook as always one of the most underated artist in te game, and t-pain went hard as i inspecteted, overally its a nice joint, cant wait to hear more songs ace!!!
