Back in ‘98, Big Pun crafted one of the finest collisions of alliteration (OK, consonance) and assonance in the history of hip-hop: “Dead in the middle of Little Italy, Little Did We Know that we riddled a middleman who didn’t do diddly.” Clearly a fan of tongue-twisters, Booth favorite (and exclusive freestyle series contributor) AC spends the lead single off his new “buzztape” rapping over that classic line, as sampled by adventurous beatsmith Hasan Insane. Over the unconventionally catchy instrumental, the Staten Island rapper does Punisher proud, delivering verses packed with intricately-rhymed lyrical gems of his own (“They see the kid who live in Stat, is in fact, bridgin’ gaps, driven’ through that sh*t that you givin’, I’m finna spit it back.”) and even dropping a few bars en Español. Has this blast from the past got you craving more from the Big Apple underground mainstay? If so, remember to pick up a copy of Send the Scouts Out when it drops next month. In the meantime, watch for this single’s official video, coming soon!

the beat is good but seems like it could be better. Maybe a remix is due? and dude's flow is decent. 3 stars

Let's take a moment to appreciate how incredibly sick Big Pun was. RIP.

Of course AC can't match Punisher's flow, but he does the legacy proud. Would have liked to hear AC speed it up to match the sample, if only for a couple lines, but his verses are dripping style.

Impressive track, the beat could use a little something though. AC is nasty on it.

AC always has a nice flow. Loved his New Soul. This would have been better with a different beat and without that annoying sound in the background.

Not only is this beat bangs, but it’s an admirable creative and energetic concept to brag-and-boasts rhymes. Rotation fa sho!

its agreed that the beat was weak, the annoying noise in the background was almost all I heard. but AC spit pretty well on it. I think he tried to sound like someone he wasn't for a part of it but he found himself and that was ahen the song was at his best.

You cannot sample one of Pun's best lines and then continue with recording your track. It will not stack up.
