Those who tuned in for Ab-Soul‘s last feature, the aptly-titled Drift Away, know that the Cali up-and-comer’s got quite the knack for crafting chilled-out headphone music, but the man just might have outdone himself with his latest mixtape leak. While Turn Me Up doesn’t have the summer-jam feel of Ab’s last effort, this joint makes up for in sheer spaciness. Credit is, of course, due producer Tae Beast, whose swooshing synth ambiance, delayed guitar riffs and hazy vocal samples make for perfect vibe-out material, as well as to the headliner and his guest collaborator; Ab drops two verses jam-packed with quietly determined braggadocio and vivid imagery, and Day Dreaming emcee Kendrick Lamar follows suit, lacing the track’s back end with his own pensive reflections on the game. Like watching Dexter on DVD, Ab-Soul's featured music just keeps getting better and better.
If you don't think you're sold on the Cali newcomer, let him change your mind and listen.

Nice lyrics, only if the beat would of been better. It was fine at first but got to repetitive and soon the song got boring.

Damn, Ab-Soul's been absolutely killing it lately, and this track's no different. I've got a feeling that a lot of people are going to be blown away when Long Term 2 drops.

The last two features from this guy are pretty amazing. I mean, I remember when he was starting to get features. I listened, and I felt he was pretty garbage. But now, I see he's found his calling.

ab-soul has been very impressive recently, everything he touches is coming off really well. very happy with this song, relaxing yet almost kinda edgy.
