Though Ahmad Belvin is primarily a pop/R&B artist, it’s his early-‘80’s hip-hop-influenced sound that sets him apart from the pack. That unique style has clearly worked to his advantage; A.B.‘s latest promo single, Batman, got over a million MySpace plays, ultimately netting him a deal with T-Pain‘s Nappy Boy Entertainment via J Records.  Four months after he signed on the dotted line, the Booth newcomer’s released his first official single, a club banger dedicated to his Trophy Girl.  Belvin’s label boss jumps on board to spit a memorable rap verse, but this cut owes the lion’s share of its pop appeal to Danja, who delivers a Timbo-style instrumental sure to get everyone out onto the floor.  So, fellas, next time you head to the local spot with your Trophy Girl in tow, call the DJ in advance and put in a request—if enough guys follow this advice, the track could easily break the Billboard Top 10.

This song first appeared on the R&B / Pop Chart on August 3, 2009

oh man.
i have to disagree with the review Burmy bcuz im not feelin the production at all.
its just bland, and too plain and poppy fa me.
goin off of this, i wudnt put AB on my radar.
T-Pain verse was nice tho.. saves the song...

Interestingly enough, its because the production isn't the stand out feature that A.B. is able to really shine. This is radio-ready pop music that should get a definite chance with T-Pain's name attached to the record.

wow... i think t-peezy brought this one down.
looks like we got 2 soulja boy's in town now.
this is better than any of soulja boys work except kiss me thru the phone.
beat sounds like it was produced by my high school marching band (i mean that in a good way lol).
A B has nice verses and sick chorus.

I'm a big fan of danjahandz but this is not up to his standards. Song is ok. I don't see it hitting the radio. and t-pain needs to stick to singing choruses, he's r.t.s. for a reason.

Decent pop record. I didn't mind the production actually. I thought it had some good energy to it. The hook was catchy and I even liked Pain rapping. Goes in the rotation.

Umm....I really have no clue what to think about this. I am EXTREMELY annoyed by his voice. This was 2 stars, but T-Pain's verse bumped it up to 3 stars.

Well i like this! I am actually a fan of the production, or at least what a.b. made of this production. He id well on this song. I should have known t-pain was going to rap on this since a singer was featuring him. BANGER.

IMO, this is probably the best track featured this week.

Some great pop production from Danja added in with solid verses from A.B. makes for a track that has a good chance at radio success.

T-Pain should probably stick to singing.

the first time i heard this song, i was like its ok, but i listened to it again and i really liked it, idk who AB is, but this song is sounds good to me and T pain killed his verse, but i dont expect this to get high ratings just cuz its a club banger and no one likes that except for me.

But seriously, when u click the button CLASSIC, it should be a song that will be played as like a Flashback song like 10 yrs from now, its a song that everyone will be playin in there cars, its not a song that is lyrical but not good enough for a lot of radio play nowadays, that aint no classic, a classic is a song that everyone will remember, like Down by Jay Sean, man that got like 3.5 stars on here, that is a song that radios will be playing 5 years from now, and thats what this song could be in my opinion

Who agrees with me???

1_O-TYME_1 - That's a real interesting opinion about what a classic should be, but I'm gonna have to disagree. I think a classic is a lyrical song that really delivers a message to people. That's why 2Pac and Biggie (and many other emcees) had so many classics that stood the test of time. They had messages in their songs, which is something that I think we need to see more of today. "Down" is a great song. I'm not gonna lie man, I've still got that song on repeat but I don't feel that it fits the definition of a classic in my opinion. I respect your opinion though, for real, it got me thinkin.

GSTAN10: u have a good point about why so many of 2pacs and Biggies songs are classics, but what i was tryin to say is that was like 15 years ago, and music has changed a lot from then and i dont feel like its gonna ever gonna go back to that kind of music, and i feel like classics have changed these days becuz most lyrical songs come from underground artists and 2pac and biggie were known by everyone, not just underground listeners, so lyrical songs arent gonna be heard by many non-underground listeners

and i also realized that this is more of a Pop song just like Down was, and a classic in Pop is a lot different than a classic in rap/hiphop

also GSTAN: i will admit a lot of lyrical songs (my favorite is definitely If You Ever Hear Me by Crooked I, that song was sick the first time i heard it) should be classics and should be on the radio, but they arent cuz thats just not what hiphop is anymore for god knows what reason

1_O-TYME_1 - That's true that a classic in pop is different than a classic in hip-hop. It's also true what you said about 2Pac bein like 15 years ago and underground artists don't really get noticed now. I didn't think about that but I tend to think of songs like Crooked I's "If You Ever Hear Me" as classics more than these pop songs. It's just the kind of music that I've always listened to. But yeah, I see what your sayin.

Wow I think we posted that at the same time. Looks like we agree on that Crooked I song haha. That tracks legit. I know what your sayin about no true hip hop classics bein on the radio, though. I wish it were different but times change. It is what it is.

haha its about time T-Pain came back and gave us somethin new!! lol...this song is banging, the beat is fire, A.B. sounds good even if a little generic, but for some reason it sounds real fresh. should have good radio success under the Nappy Boy label...Nice

This dude looks so weird, not that I care. but it just doesn't match to the song's topic. I would expect different kind of music looking at this picture. The beat does nothing for me and the hook is too repetetive. The songwriter, TC, is kinda the poor man's James Fauntleroy. Similar style, similar approach with the melodies. And I don't even mean that negative now. Dude's voice is nothing special.
