Feeling a little down? Like life just isn’t fair? Rather than blowing 12 bucks on a self-help book that isn’t worth the paper it’s printed on, why not take a listen to the insights 8Ball & MJG, along with fellow Southern vet Slim Thug, offer on this new track, Life Goes On. The latest leak off what will be their first collection of original material since ‘07, the cut finds heavyweight producer Drumma Boy serving up an understated yet street-ready synth instrumental as the Memphis natives and their Houston cohort give listeners a gritty but uplifting lyrical pep talk. The message? Hard times don’t discriminate, but whatever slings and arrows fate may send your way, you’ve got to stay strong, keep it real, and (of course) keep stacking your paper. For more words to live by from a duo who’s been around the block, grab a copy of 8Ball and MJG’s eighth full-length, Ten Toes Down, when it hits stores tomorrow via Grand Hustle/E1.

Glad to hear new 8Ball and MJG. Since their side and solo projects were mediocre, its good to have them back together again. They are kinda like PBnJ (you know, they both taste good, but just much much better together).

From the Drumma Boy production (I'm beginning to think the man is heavily underrated with his consistency) to the Thugga guest verse, I enjoyed myself. Not a repeat listen per say, but a solid album cut.

Definitely has that Southern feel to it. Not to my liking though, the beat is too slow. Not really a big fan of 8Ball and MJG, but Slim Thug sounded nice.

well this is definitly one of my taste that beat sounds so epic and has that drawl within it thats legendary for the south.

the base hits way hard and the topic is on point plus the beat follows with it and its a very compelling listen

this is banger and that beat is still epic an feel i will be giving this major listen on my recent re-download of I-tunes when i find it!!!

It is always nice to see 8Ball & MJG put out new work. They are definitely up there along with top rap duos and are very underrated in the rap pantheon.

This is a real riding song for me. Has that slow and sick beat by Drumma and just makes you want to drive around and take life in. Both 8Ball and MJG have solid verses and Slim Thug adds a tough feel to the already gritty track.

One of the best duos in hip-hop history next to 90s Mobb Deep and the Clipse. "Life Goes On" really indicates to me that regardless of how much time has gone by 8-Ball and MJG are still able to release quality music. As for Slim Thug, can't say that I am his biggest fan, but he did his thing and added to the track in a positive way. What more could you want: solid hook, solid verses and great production. 3.5

This is a hot song goes back to the old Ball & G from the Suave House days. The track is a nice track to ride to.

I like this one... Lots of people who aren't from the south complain that southern music doesn't have enough substance and is too materialistic, but here is a good example of some southern heavyweights spittin' some meaningful lyrics.

If you didn't like the production here's what you do: Chill out. Roll yourself a Sweet. Take a puff. Perhaps drive around the city real slow. Press play.
Better?

You always know what you're going to get from 8 Ball and MJG (big beats, straightforward flows, obscenities) and they deliver yet again, although they're a little more on the inspirational tip than usual here.

In other words, I'm digging it. The overall vibe's smooth as hell. On repeat for sure.

Reminds me of a BT&Harmony; track. Production is nice, has a westside feel too it. Im interested, not impressed but that's but def. a nice CD track, don't know if it would do well commercially but that's life

Ball & G have been through EVERYTHING in their career...From Suave House to Bad Boy and now Grand Hustle...For those who hate on Southern hip-hop, this is definitely one to set 'em straight!

P.S. Glad their distribution is E1 instead of Atlantic or Interscope-they just sound better as independent artists!

Better than what I expected from these two. Its a solid cut indeed. Slum thug brought this track way down, he was not needed on this.

One of the most if not the most underrated hip hop duo in history! Solid track after solid track. Might not be classic material but consistency is something I respect very highly. Banger!

I liked the production here, but it was all over, the guitar was to quiet, and the horns were to loud. The artists did a nice job here though.

3.5 Rounding up.
