As the fourth single off Curtis, Ayo Technology (She Want It), begins to sizzle at radio for 50 Cent, the fifth song to leak off the album has arrived; the highly anticipated collaboration with Robin Thicke, Follow My Lead. It is doubtful that any artist, or label for that matter, would follow the lead of Mr. Jackson and push back a project three times (and release five songs prior to album launch). However, as 50 flows over a beat courtesy of Tha Bizness and Robin Thicke croons in the background with his falsetto voice, one can only help but wonder if Follow My Lead is a 21 Questions like masterpiece waiting in the wings. Curtis will be released off Aftermath/Shady/Interscopeon September 11th.

Alright I guess it is time for me to chime ... in on this topic. On the for really real .. Kanye’s album will most likely outdo 50’s album. Let’s review the facts shall we…
Fact 1: 50’s first album was good but what else of his can be compared to it ... none. His whole philosophy change from the street to R&B;singing. Kanye took the world by storm his first album, and then came out with multiple successful albums there afterwards. The difference is that Kanye has stayed consistant through his albums. 50 went from dogging Ja Rule to singing hooks and becoming the “R&B;Star” that he claimed that Ja Rule was. Basically he became what he sought out to destroy.
Fact 2: The hip-hop is dead theory. When 50 first came out he was about the streets and making those “ends”; basically talking about the way life was for him(hip-hop related). Alot of people could relate to that at the time, because for many people that is what they were going through. But as Q-Tip said on the last two words of the first verse of Electric Relaxation, now they “couldn’t relate.” People are starting to see all this negativity is just not good for them. People are starting to realize that the message has been “lost in translation” if I may say so. That is were Kanye comes in. Kanye’s formula is and has been a broad approach that covers a broader reach of people: Don’t just make music that fits a hit formula(record labels says do this to conform to what a certain demographic is feeling), make music to express how you feel and let the followers follow.
How many of you have seen the Stronger video?? Has anybody caught the similarity between Kanye’s hallway scene and the Anime called “Akira”??? I caught it right off. Right after Tetsuo went to the hospital in that Akira he started having nightmares and couldn’t sleep. His powers awakened and the guards came and he dispatched them with the greatest of ease with his new powers. That hallway scene in Kanye’s video is straight out of that anime. And then just the sampling from Daft Punk’s Stronger song is hip-hop on a high note.
Final fact: The wave of hardcore rap must come to a “hiatus” just as the Golden Age of Hip-Hop did. Everything has its time. There will be good times and bad times. For those cats that actually lived through the Golden Age of Hip-hop(like myself) stay strong. Our kind of music will rekindle the flame to hip-hop that will burst forth like a phoenix from the ashes. Music with a message, music that made you feel good to live in tha hood, music that made you appreciate a woman, music that could talk about the good things in life that aren’t just materialistic(I mean there is only so much rapping about hoes, clothes, and blows that you can do to a different beat). All that gangsta rap and street stuff is coming to it’s hiatus. what I mean by hiatus is it’s pause while reflections of the past and praises of the present take place.
And that is my take on the subject!!
its funny because this is exactly what 50 and his ppl want from the general public. the more you talk about it the more curious people get and in turn go out and buy the album out of curiosity. which is straight profit for 50. kanye west is going to sell more records in the hood and in the suburbs. 50 is going to sell no records in the hood and only white suburbian kids will buy his record. he knows who is target audience is so all the soft music he has out and working with j.t and robin thicke is only to make his target audience happy. but that is where the money is so 50 gets exactly what he wants even without the approval of real hip hop fans.
bottom line is, Kanye west will have a better album, period! 50 will sell more because of who his target audience is, period!

Yes Rico Sean I do watch Japanese Animation or Anime for short. The storylines are much more intense, the graphics are a whole lot better. My mother who is in her 50’s watches them too. Nothing wrong with it, but of course from your stand point everything in the world might be wrong with it. Some people play video games, or listen to music ... me I do all those and watch anime.

Kia is a terrible artist. Notice “artist” because he can’t rap so i wouldn’t use rapper. He’s promoting the same formula: great beat + catchy hook = rap superstar which is false. that’s how chingy came about. why do you think puffy and jd has writers and bring out songs based only on when the names have hype building on them. they know bullshit only works when your not looking for it. they wait till something like a big law suit, a new artist or some fake baby mamma drama to pull out a hit. it distracts the orginality of their music. Kia, Chingy, Hurricane S***, and all of those other artist don’t have drama to distract are easiy spotted.

But the people like me who listened to 50 before he was signed to aftermath and know he is definitely top 3 right now know the deal. He is making history, and his flow is ridiculous. He helps the beats in my opinion. He is an Expert songwriter and genius marketing mind. You gotta give respect where respect is due…
