50 Cent has been widely criticized for the quality of music he has released for the past few years, so what better way to fix it than by going back to the music that people first loved? When he arrived with the back story of being shot nine times, people thought Fiddy was exactly what hip-hop needed. However, many years later we’ve heard plenty of singing, a far cry from the material he created to chew up Ja Rule. So on his latest freestyle, Old 2003 Ferrari, the tycoon uses his “old” style, updating it for the current times and revealing the emcee many have been missing. Produced by newcomer Jay Marvlis, Ferrari‘s beat features some heavy drums and a sample that I embarrassingly can’t figure out (little help here?), which gives it a banging street sound, as opposed to the more club oriented vibe we’ve been hearing lately. Although the delivery may be a bit too much - if this is 2003 it’s 2003 on steroids - 50’s lyricism is actually pretty decent, and with a couple of punch lines shot at Kanye, Nas and Wiz Khalifa, is this the first step back to the a**hole 50 we loved?

"Old 2003 Ferrari" is the 50 Cent most of us enjoy. His flow is raw, he is funny (as in the haha sort of way), and there is no corny hook in sight. Good stuff.

Not crazy about the lyrics nor overall production. I really don't like the sample in the background that sound like Alvin and the Chipmunks.

The lyrics on here are dope! 50 came correct on this with his attacks, and watching the video to this compliments the song in a hilarious way. The beat here is whack IMO, but the song is meant for 50 to spit. Mission accomplished.

i AINT. tripping ainnnt ainnnt trpping LoL. Im glad 50 is back. Idk if this is better than "they burned me" but 50 needs to keep making music like this. And this is coming from a die hard Kanye West fan. STOP HATEING ON FIFTY!

This is close to his old flow but I think he needs a couple more freestyles to get back to his greatness. Fifty got side tracked by the same thing he vowed to get or die trying.
Lets see if he can dust off his mic and get back to business. |

This song echo’s of a man who can no longer go forward so chooses to go back one step. It is much harder to reinvent than to resort to type. I’m not hating on 50 but this isn’t anything new.

Um....I actually do like his old shit much better, so I guess I like this new old shit better too.
At this point the attempts to stir up trouble with Wiz, Kanye etc. is getting tired, but otherwise I thought this was solid. By the way @robertbils , he mentioned Kanye and Wiz in the same sentence because they've both....made love....to Amber Rose. That's the shot.

I'm liking this one. I don't think it's a real indication of what's in store for 50's next project because he explicitly says "I'll give them some old shit;" vintage-sounding production, old flow, etc. Specifically done as a throwback. I definitely like the track, but who knows what he'll put out next. At the least, I, for one, am curious to see what he has in store.
