Following a plethora of mixtapes, Diplomat affiliate 40 Cal is ready to finally release a full-length album. After declaring that Dipset Is Ova and pledging his allegiance to Juelz Santana‘s Skull Gang, the former battle rapper has inked a new deal with indie label RBC Records to release his debut, The Yellow Tape. On the album’s first single, Cal proceeds to Shut Em Down with the same adaptability that gave him his cred on the freestyle circuit. Adding a military-drill sound is producer X.O., whose simplistic percussion beat brings about a sound not heard from Dipset since Santana’s ‘05 single, Clockwork. Will 40 Cal be able to build on his flight out of the eagle’s shadow? The April 1 release of The Yellow Tape should answer that question.
Beat is something different, sounds decent, it is definitely different, but I think it can get some radio play, I mean, it something people would enjoy I think... I like it...
The beat is kinda tight, its got a drumline type of vibe but i feel like something is missing from the beat..maybe a hook or a tough orchestra melody...40's missin a chorus and a better hook for this to be radio worthy or even noticible
40 Cal can spit and needs a damn opportunity. I am very happy to seem him get this shot. This production is TIGHT; I could hear Hell Rell flow over this beat too.
Good call burmy...it sounds just like the clockwork track. I like 40's flow and he sounds great with other Dip-Set members. Too bad that crew is now in shambles. Its a shame because they had so many talented people, but just no money. The production is catchy and 40 Cal represents on here...It's not as hard as I would like...
Most of Dipset comes with the heat and 40 Cal is no exception (Cam is, though). Once I saw this was 40 Cal I had some expectations and I was not let down, big ups to 40.
