4-Ize - Dat Ain't Gon' Ride
Artist: 4-Ize
Featuring: Señor Kaos
Producer: DJ Rasta Root
Album: Illuminated Animals
Label: Amon'st Frenz Ent.
As an up-and-coming artist with cash to spare and too many women to fit into one tricked-out ride (as he explained on his last Booth feature), 4-IZE is enjoying himself too much to let haters and sucker emcees ruffle his feathers – thus, his boilerplate response to anyone talking trash is a polite but firm, “No, no, Dat Ain’t Gon’ Ride.” This newly-leaked track off IZE’s forthcoming Illuminated Animals street album finds the dual Chicago/Atlanta native flowing over the cheery, Chipmunk-soul boardwork of DJ Rasta Root annihilating his doubters in spectacularly patronizing style: “What is your life about? What is you on? You really must’ve bumped your head, ‘cause something’s wrong…” Girls Rock Too rapper Señor Kaos and NYC’s Punchlyne handle the latter two-thirds of the track, the former taking a more aggressive tack and the latter hitting haters right where it hurts: “You can find my name in your girlfriend’s address book.” Complete with a cartoonish call-and-response hook, this lyrical kiss-off and more can be found on Illuminated Animals when it hits the ‘net on November 23.

I'm going to start off with a quick sidebar to begin my feedback: What in the world could have led to 4-Ize naming his new project "Illuminated Animals"? I need to hit him yesterday.
As for the track, I had a blast nodding my head up and down. The flow, charm, and vocals are all catchy as hell. Nice guest contributions too, but neither is as good as the opening 16. |

What's wrong with 4-IZE? I remember when him and Luda used to freestyle together on Luda's albums and, back in those days, IZE was far stronger. I'm not feeling this. Production was pretty tight but the chorus and verses can use a little tweaking.

Have to agree with the comments so far. I like minimalist tracks, but whether they meant to or not, this comes off a little unfinished. Good, not great.

Well, I'm for sure liking this production and all 3 deliver straight flows and average lyrics. One of those tracks that - initially grabs the listener’s attention but soon wears thin after a while. Could've used some more dynamics to it. 2.5
