Florida native 2 Pistols’ gangsta-sounding stage name may paint him as a hard-nosed emcee who would choose Death Before Dishonor, but on the latest single off his currently-untitled sophomore effort a more sensitive side of the rapper is on display. The ladies will undoubtedly enjoy new record My Gurl, on which 2P serenades a special someone with the help of 112 alumnus Slim, who contributes a suitably soulful hook. 2 Pistols is at his most sincere on this sentimental cut, spitting lines like, “I asked my god to send me an angel and he did that/ minus the wings, with my name tatted on her back.,” over an synth-laden beat contributed by Oddz.N.Endz. Though neither a title nor a release date has been announced for Pistols’ forthcoming LP, My Gurl may change that, provided that it leaves listeners as lovestruck as the artist clearly is.

I agree with you WOW :) about the beat. It definitely solid. I don't like the mix of Slim's vocals, just like Plies' song with Ashanti though. 2 Pistol isn't bad though with this one. It's nothing special with the content, but he has a decent flow. I can throw in rotation.

2 Pistols often has well produced songs but doesnt take advantage of it. His lyrics sound like every other r&b/hip hop song he has made. Slim's hook was not good compared to what I've heard before. This is in rotation

I love 2 Pistols, I have never heard a really BAD song by him...This track will become one of my favs, I'm pretty sure of this. The production is smooth and sexy, the beat is great and Slim sounds good. Banger!

LOL @ Xothermic! I think 2 Pistols and Plies have the same formula too. But I don't think there is a problem with that. They both are doing their thing!
This track is smooth and a cute shout out to that woman in these igga's lives that's holdin' it down. We don't get enough of those right? NE Way...It's nothing extraordinary, but what the heck - its going in rotation. Slim has come back on the sceen. Could he be the new T-Pain? |
