According to Merriam-Webster’s wonderful dictionary, the word “arrogant” is defined as “exaggerating or disposed to exaggerate one’s own worth or importance often by an overbearing manner.” What does this mean in hip hop lingo?  Simple: “I am the sh*t and I want everyone to know that I am the sh*t.”  Not ashamed to admit he hopped over the fence labeled “confident” quite some time ago, rapper 2 Pistols has used this adjective as the title of his sophomore album (his first as a Cash Money signee).  Come On, the follow-up single to Lights Low, finds the Florida native, along with new labelmate Lil Wayne and Grammy-nominated R&B stand-out J. Holiday, trying to convince a young lady to take a ride.  Obviously, the word “ride” can be interpreted in a variety of ways, but the motive behind this Young Yony-produced record’s selection is pretty clear; to net 2P his first Top 10 chart placement since debut single She Got It.  As always, we will leave it up to our readers to decide if Come On is worth a spin around the block.

This song first appeared on the Rap Chart on August 17, 2009

This is your typical mainstream song these days, except the hook was not catchy to me. Pistols did not prove to me that he was anything special. Wayne was decent.

Question - I'm just thinkin outside the box here, but why are all of the untalented artists getting the most recognition? I know its because they make club hits and radio songs, but here's my real question... why can't the talented underground/less known artists make a radio hit? Get a good beat and a catchy hook and let them give some good lyrics to the verses... It seems like every new hit these days is by a guy with little talent. A talented guy could build up a bunch of contacts just like the other guy and actually make a legit song. I don't know, I think I am making sense here.... Thoughts?

I would say this was a disspointment but I'm not a fan of anyone on this song. 2 Pistols is simply forgettable and J. Holiday really doesn't bring anything to the table and the chrous was boring.

Oh yeah, for Wayne he's not only overhyped but overrated. I can't think of when was the last time he really went hard. Maybe there's some expections (if any) but remeber him back in '05-'08, that was the Lil Wayne I liked. Not this rapper who just spits grabage but because he rapped it, it suppose to be hot. Bullshit.

This track is not bad, but it is pretty forgettable. 2 Pistols was just OK, Wayne was decent (but I didn't dislike the verse quite as much as HoamBoy), and the production and hook sound like anything else on the radio.

To GStan10: I've been wondering the exact same thing for a while now. I think it happens but seems to be pretty rare.

All three participants are solid (Wayne is capable of much more - agreed?), but I was most impressed with J. Holiday. Who knew he could do that sung/rapped third verse? I think 2P should have relegated him to hook duties only, but at least they got their monies worth. Rotation.

Another mainstream song, same story ...
Production > Hook > Weezy > 2Pistols

The only thought that comes to my mind whenever I listen to a 2Pistol track is - DAMN! the beats that J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League gave/wasted to this dude Pistols on his debut album are just crazy ...
I just wish somebody with more talent could have jumped on it evey one of em' beats would have been a certified HIT ...

@GStan10 - Great question, fam!
As long as I remember I've been wondering the exact same thing, but props to ya for finally poppin the question. Couldn't have said it better myself ...
Though I dont know the exact answer but I think Juanito's reply comes close to it ... It does happen but pretty rare (Young Son's "This My Jam!" comes to mind) ...
But Mayne! was I hyped up to hear Tanya Morgan spits germs over Polow Da Don's "Drop" beat ... Whoa!

Most mainstream pop is marketed to 14 year olds. They're the most susceptible to groupthink and thus the most likely to buy en masse. Top 40 charts are dominated by crap music bought by middle schoolers, though good stuff does break through from time to time.

Naw, I just wanted to say that...lol

It actually wasn't the bad. I'd spit over this production. I like the heavy bass and the futuristic R&B feel. I was actually thinking about where 2 Pistols had been lately earlier this week.

I'm usually not a fan of J. Holiday, but his hook was dope on this. I remember when Lil Wayne was the most wanted featured artist. I feel that Drake is about to become that cat for this year and next year. I would have thought it would have been better to get Drizzy on this. But this actually wasn't bad at all. I like the entire feel and I would rock to it on the radio and with my dreamgurl. The verses aren't even that corny. Change my rating to "IN ROTATION!

wow! this collab caught me off guard. Anyways the song was pretty good. 3 stars in rotation. Weezy was straight, j- holiday had a nice voice but a very bland hook. 2 pistols is the same 2 pistols has always been sooo.. all in all... as i said before... 3 stars. BUT i'll rate 5 stars to even out MH's, "accidental" rating

This track isn't that special at all. 2 Pistols has always sound boring, and J. Holiday was the highlight of this song kind of dissipointed on weezy.

@1_O-Tyme_1 - Yeah, but radio songs don't have to be these corny tracks that these one-hit wonders are puttin out. Get a hot beat, a catchy hook (not corny though) and just let the rapper spit. I don't know, I'm just thinkin, your probably right.

gstan u make perfect sense i feel ya...to be honest thats why i can get past the average lyrics from artists like 2 pistols, yung berg, florida, pitbull etc...they get on the RIGHT beats and make it sound catchy enough! by the way 2 pistols aint great on this one either, but him and his team do a great job at picking feautres, beats etc...his beats are always tight! nice j holiday hook, not a hit, but could be on the radio

I'm a supporter of 2P I think his debut album was well done. This song is too safe, it doesn't even bend the rules. This is about as generic as possible, and adding "feat. Lil wayne" didn't help.

Haterz please keep hating. Please. Come on. No, really. Yeah, seriously. Keep talking. I don't care ~because~ it doesn't matter if the people who listen are ten years old or eighty, music is music no matter what genre. I swear these days 'gangstaz' are looking for so much 'hard' that they could be gay.

Anyways, I like Holiday on this. Never was a 2Pistols fan and this isn't something to judge by, but it's still deserves play. Bayngah.

This isnt a hit, though its still a decent effort from 2P. J. Holiday was really solid while Wayne was decent.

I think its becoming painfully obvious that Weezy is doin way to many guest features.

Fuuuuuuck, Lil Wayne always sucks. I always hear him "rapping" the same lyrics in the same beat and in the same ugly voice of his. Ew, ew. ew. But I always love J. Holiday. 2 Pistol is okay, a little boring. I don't know what I think of the song yet.

This is a club closer i.e. play it to let people know you will be shutting down soon. I almost got happy, when i heard wayne not auto tune and then it happened he hit me with it. 2 pistols could have done alot better, Ive heard it. J. Holiday well while his sound is smooth, its still very melancholy. Like this will not fill the floor, it will clear it.
