1982 - You Should Go Home
Artist: 1982
Featuring: Bun B , Masspike Miles
Producer: Statik Selektah
Album: 1982 (The Album)
Label: Showoff/St. Records
Don’t judge a book by its cover; though the silky-smooth sound of Statik Selektah and Termanology‘s latest feature under the 1982 banner might lead you to believe that the twosome have just one thing on their minds, a listen to guest singer Masspike Miles’ chorus will quickly disprove your assumption: “You Should Go Home, cause you ain’t comin’ home with me tonight…” Something of an “anti-ladies’ jam,” this new single finds Selektah serving up a characteristically lush, horn-driven instrumental as Term rebuffs the advances of an over-eager female, explaining that he’s simply not in the mood: “I just wanna cruise, party with my crew – beefin’ with you is something I don’t wanna do.” Also along for the ride is UGK vet Bun B, who spends his bars attempting to reassure a jealous girl at home, while asserting his need for the occasional boys’ night out. A breezy joint that I’m sure many of the fellas will find relatable (and women will likely enjoy regardless of their opinions on the subject), Go Home is just one of many fresh tracks to be found on 1982 (The Album), set to hit stores October 26.

I mean, what can I say? Musically, this record couldn't be more on point. This is my favorite offering to date from 1982 and audio proof that Statik Selektah is one of the very best in the game today.

Dope. The highlight of this record for me is the hook. The piano's nice too.

love the production, without a doubt my favourite aspect of this track. bun b was my favourite vocal presence on this track, with the toned down beat on his verse he really steps up and delivers.

Wow, this might be the most radio ready joint I've ever heard from the Showoff crew, and I mean that in the best sense. They've managed to craft something with widespread appeal that still maintains their artists integrity. Respect.

Damn I headed somewhere for one night without connection to the outside world and come back to some extremely dope entries. Z said it best, everything on point. Masspike's chorus and background vocals suited this perfectly.
