Jul 13, 2007 - Atlanta, GA -- The Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation (TASF) proudly announces the Performing Arts Camp's ninth annual performance of the "Shoulders of Giants" at the Rialto Center for the Arts in Atlanta on Saturday, August 4 at 7.00 PM. Based on Tupac's (2Pac) work 'The Rose That Grew From Concrete', written when he was 19-years old, the event is a reflection of his enigmatic life, and embraces his spirit, energy and ultimate message of hope.

“Shoulders of Giants” is a musical revue of performances and readings by Pac’s Kids, students from the Tupac Amaru Shakur Performing Arts Center. In song and voice, Pac’s Kids celebrate the African American pioneers that paved the way in the arts, theatre and entertainment. Directed by Celina Nixon, the center’s Creative Director, the show is a dazzling mix of era standards, poetry readings, dance works and original pieces created by the next generation of writers, actors, singers and dancers.

"I'm excited to have the opportunity to work with students who are filled with extraordinary creative ability and dedication to produce another outstanding show,” said Nixon. “Although some of the students have never performed before, they all have potential to become superstars. In retrospect of my own experiences as a Pac's Kid, I'm amazed at my achievements and am honored to be the Artistic Director of this production."

The TASF Performing Arts Camp is the brainchild of Tupac’s (2Pac) mother Ms. Afeni Shakur, who saw the impact performing arts had on her son and has made it her mission to give back some of that creativity and confidence to students through the TASF Performing Arts program.

Over 700 students have graduated from the TASF arts program which strives to enhance the many creative talents of its young students, between 12-18 years. Through various classes and activities, the youth experience life lessons while developing broad-ranging skills that have the potential to change their lives and the world around them.

Over the years Pac’s Kids have performed at venues as varied as The Source Awards, The Battle of The Marching Bands, Good Day Atlanta, the Georgia State Conference of NAACP Freedom Fun Gala and at various festivals and community events.

Advanced tickets for “Shoulders of Giants” are available at the Rialto Center for the Arts and at the TASF Visitor Center at 5616 Memorial Drive , Stone Mountain , GA. Admission is $20 with proceeds benefiting the continued development of the Tupac Amaru Shakur Center for the Arts.
