Nas Does Revealing NYC Interview & Show for Hennessy
Back in 2002 on an episode of MTV Diaries, Nas passed on a Coors Lite commercial because he was against promoting beer to youngsters but now in 2013, the 39-year-old Queensbridge mainstay has partnered with the world’s number one selling cognac to endorse a more positive message by inspiring people to never stop, never settle.
Centered on the belief that true greatness is reserved for those who have reached a level of mastery yet still push for more success, the "Wild Rabbit" program draws parallels among the journeys of leading icons in various fields and the paths being forged by Hennessy aficionados. Hennessy’s never stop, never settle mantra communicates a value at the core of who they are as a brand that resonates with their loyal consumers: pursuing one's potential comes from an inner drive to continuously grow, continuously improve and seek greater levels of mastery.
According to Rodney Williams, Senior Vice-President of Moet Hennessy USA, Mr. Jones is not only a master in music, but is blazing new trails in film and philanthropy, among other passions, including Hennessy, which he has expressed many times in his lyrics.
To introduce their new brand ambassador, Hennessy held a private concert on January 15 at New York’s R Lounge in Times Square. Moderated by Hot 97 radio personality Miss Info, the event featured a live Q&A where Nas dished out some personal tidbits:
1) There are records more revealing than Daughters and Bye Baby, which may or may not end up on a Lost Tapes sequel.
2) Kelis’ milkshake is so good he occasionally sends text messages asking for seconds.
3) He believes upcoming rappers like Chief Keef really care about the culture stating, “Artists like Chief Keef are just introducing themselves to America. Whether you like how they express themselves or not. This is what it is even if it comes off as violent or embarrassing, it’s honest.”
4) A remake to Belly 2 will never be released because he once wrote and starred in his own film that wasn’t completely his vision (which also will never come out).
Following his intimate conversation, The God Son toasted to the crowd by unveiling his signature Hennessy cocktail, the “Big Apple”, crafted by mixologist Jordan Bushell. After, fans were treated to a performance curated by DJ Green Lantern that showcased some of his biggest hit records including personal favorites Hate Me Now, If I Ruled The World, One Mic and The World Is Yours.
