Master P threatens Sony over Romeo single

Bow Wow

LOS ANGELES -- The war of words between young rappers Lil' Romeo and Bow Wow could escalate into a multimillion-dollar lawsuit against Sony Music.

Lil' Romeo's father, hip-hop mogul Master P, told AllHipHop.com he was going to file a $500 million suit against Sony -- Bow Wow's label -- for allegedly calling U.S. radio stations and telling them not to play his son's "U Can't Shine Like Me."

The song is a response to Bow Wow's "Fresh Azimiz," which contained lyrics considered offensive by the Millers, AllHipHop.com said.

"U Can't Shine Like Me" has been streamed more than 700,000 times on Yahoo! Music, but is only being played on three U.S. radio stations, the Web site said.

"How can Sony Music executives call radio stations and tell them not to play the Romeo record 'U Can't Shine Like Me?'" Master P said.

Representatives for Sony Music were not available for comment, AllHipHop.com said.
