Tha Carter III

New York, NY -- Cash Money/Universal Motown Records multi-platinum recording artist Lil Wayne expands his dynasty with Tha Carter III. The new CD is the biggest release by far for 2008, selling over 1 Million copies its first week, reigning #1 on Nielsen SoundScan, besting Mariah Carey’s record-breaking release earlier this year. Not since 50 Cent’s The Massacre in 2005 has an artist sold over 1 Million albums their first week.

MUSICMAN, do you remember our argument back then when Tha Carter III leaked? That's what I was talking about, only the people decide whether an album sells, NOT the bootleg! If the album is damn good, the leak only works as a tool, a marketing trick, free samples, so people know what's good and go buy it! I was disgusted by the reason behind the bootleg (the DJ urged people not to buy Lil Wayne’s album) but I always kept faith that this story would have a happy ending, and that’s how I feel now!

TONE+Chef	No matter what your personal view is on this album, the success behind "Tha Carter III" is a dang goods sign for hip-hop. Lyrics = longevity = record sales = respect! You don't need a catchy dance in hip-hop to sell big!
